I've just watched her Snow White quest cutscenes and I kinda think she offed Bastien too. Or at least helped him along.

Just look at that smirk that kinda creeps over her face when Quizzy gives her the heart - is that the reaction of a woman in love who just got the means to heal her lover? And if she was really much older that she looked and used the youth potion to make herself look younger, wouldn't she have shared that with her love way before all this happened? Cause Bastien looked ancient. Honestly, I was initially creeped out that he looked like a cryptkeeper and Vivienne looked to be in her thirties - especially with her saying she was really young when they met.

I think she probably liked him enough - or found him tolerable at least - but she stood to gain more with his death than with her continued association with him. With Inquisition, she outgrew him but she could still use him one more time.

And honestly, her using him from the start makes way more sense to me than Madame the effing Fer agreeing to be some random lord's side chick out of love.

And all of this just makes me like her more XD.

Please can you make screenshot of Vivienne in her first outfit (when we take her in our party) front and back in her hat during daylight. I need this for retexture.

Her alchemy notes do mention that she's had to replace a plant that went extinct during the First Blight and that the Snowy Wyvern heart acts as a stabilizing agent. The compound is light sensitive and becomes less effective over time, losing all effectiveness after around three days. Vivienne might have been using the Duke, but she definitely cared about him on some level.

Hmm, didn't read those. Does it say when she figured out to replace that plant? How long had she known how to stabilize it? I wonder if she's used the potion for herself before or not(she looks super young and with that whole fade thing, it's likely she has).

And I don't know how much she cared(I'm guessing she did after all those years together, to some degree like I mentioned in my previous post) but things just seem off to me about that whole 'romance'. Even when you ask her if she was charmed that first night she says sth like 'well his flaws were made up for with rank and importance'. That just says it all, doesn't it?

Plus, looking from a dev POV - if they actually were trying to go for a love story and model a dude who managed to capture's Vivi's cold, cold heart, would they make that man?! I mean, he's not her match in any way.

Dude is old and on his death bed I wouldn't expect him to look like prince charming.

His age was kinda my point. And I'm not saying he has to be Dorian-handsome or anything.

I was just wondering if his model was a part of painting a bigger picture, considering how much thought goes into modeling characters (age, race, looks).

I don't know what to make of Vivienne. I want to feel for her but at the same time I just cant trust her. She's deceptive and manipulative.

Even by her own admission she'd make an excellent villain. I don't much care for her on a personal level, but I certainly respect how she managed to turn a position on par with court jester into one with real authority. She's more of a respected colleague than friend in my book.

I was disappointed a bit by not getting more Vivienne content. I hope if there's some DLC they include some more companion quests. Honestly I'd love one focusing on court life with Viv (guest staring Josephine)

I think that Vivienne has a strong enough back story that she could have her own back story DLC. It would be fun to see the events that turned a girl from the Free Marches to the Iron Lady of Orlais.

Agreed. A whole court life of Viv DLC.

I also like the idea of the next Dragon Age Novel having to do with her back story. I know that The Masked Empire was partly about the court in Orlais, but a book from Vivienne stand point would be entertaining. I see it going into the politics of the Circle and the court. After reading the Wicked years I kind of picked up a liking for political thrillers in a fantasy setting. A DLC is fun. But, I would just like to get into her head and see the events that shaped her into being. Getting to be the person to shape her would be fun, But I just want to know the story behind those soulful eyes.

I'm surprised by the lack of love that Vivienne gets on the BSN. Shes one of my favorites, so much so that unless I'm playing mage (mage freedom forever) then I prefer Vivienne as divine. She gets a lot of dislike for being bitchy but honestly, shes no worst than Morrigan. In fact, Morrigan was worst, she complained whenever I tried to help people. Vivienne approves of your attempts to help others. She openly states that her reason for joining is her belief that all mages have a duty to help close the breach. She has a strong moral code. She ends up being something like a big sister to most companions which is nice (once she gets past the "snarky remarks" phase she has with most).

She is currently shaking the status quo as the first mage named Divine of the Chantry, promoted by the Inquisitor Kuruk Adaar.

I was a little disappointed about the Winter Palace quest in particular because that is the kind of environment where Vivienne thrives. It would have been nice to see Vivienne getting a few extra scenes (such as interactions with Celene or a confrontation with Morrigan). I wasn't a fan of the attire either as I thought she would have worn something more ostentatious and Orlesian.

Still love Vivienne though ^_^ and any DLC which gives us more insight to her character is welcome! (and more snarky comments)

She's pro-circle. That pretty much guarantees a large amount of hate really.

I got Vivienne in my party but she fight only on distance like an normal mage while i put points in KE-spec,any help??

Priotorize Spirit Blade as one of her preferred skills, she'll move to the frontline more often

Some have theorized based on the Alchemy notes that she was trying to restore his youth with the potion and the note implies she knows it could work. Just think on why she believes it would have been successful if she had the original ingredients perhap from 1st hand experience....

Vivienne is great. She is one of my most favorite characters of Dragon age. And for that i painted her tarot card in a canvas dYAf2vn.jpg

I'm as anti-circle as they come but she's too awesome to hate. Befriending her is worth working your ass off.

I don't think Vivienne murdered Bastien. I think the whole point of that quest was to show a slightly softer side of Vivienne. I think she was legitimately in love with him and trying to save his life, but just simply failed. Her emotional attachment to him clouded her judgement, and wouldn't allow her to recognize that there was nothing that could be done to save him. The whole quest is Vivienne in denial, and a manifestation of her grief.

After all if Vivienne truly wanted to murder Bastien, she wouldn't have needed the Inquisitor's help doing it.

His age was kinda my point. And I'm not saying he has to be Dorian-handsome or anything.

Vivienne was likely the same age as Bastien, or close to it. They had been together for many years, as Vivienne notes that he had been a dashing rogue when she first met him. 'Dashing' isn't a word you'd used to describe someone who is elderly. Another clue that Vivienne had been with Bastien for many years is that Bastien's wife was long dead. And finally if you bring Vivienne to the Fade the Nightmare demon implies that Vivienne has been using magic to give herself a youthful appearance.

Interesting. That could explain why her age is such a shady topic.

I never thought she was young. That much is for sure.

I would love to see Vivienne become a villain-like figure in the future, not because I hate her, but because she'd be a FANTASTIC villain.  Seriously if Vivienne was the Elder One, the Inquisition wouldn't have stood a chance.  She'd be an incredibly effective rival.
