I don't know about anybody else but, regardless of the character I'm trying to roleplay, I can not say no to Vivienne. I'm currently playing an anti-chantry elf and I still pick all the pro-chantry options with her. She is a hard lady to say no to.

On my next run through of Inquisition, I'm taking Vivienne with me into the Arbor Wilds.
Don't tell me what they say, I'm just hoping for some high quality Morrigan/Vivienne back and forth.

My dears, Vivienne was kind enough to pose for this shot earlier today:
So is there a collective name for Viv fans yet? The Darlings?
I read all that in Viv's voice. That's an achievement, bro xD. Loving how she can pretty much outfab most characters when it comes to dressing up.

No, have you seen the hair in this game? She's better without.

Vivienne would make any hairstyle chic. ![]()
Although, I don't see any problem with her current style.

I'm pretty sure Viviene thinks that nicknames are silly.

So I'm doing a replay of my 'canon' run-through and I was really panicking that Vivienne didn't like me this time around. I was about 65 hours into the game and she was still saying "What can I help you with?" with no "Darling" or "Dear"! I also hadn't gotten her to drop the wyvern quest yet. I just realized that that quest probably can't drop until you do the Winter Palace quest.
So yesterday, I did the Winter Palace quest (and brought Vivienne, natch) and afterwards, finally got her to 'ask a favor'. I forgot how great that quest is. I still can't imagine how so many people question her motives in that quest. It's so clear to me that she's being genuine and then just taking advantage of a bad situation to better her position afterwards. I also love having the Divine talk with her and recommending her in that conversation (in this playthrough, I supported Cassandra publicly, but still told Vivienne she'd be great to get those "greatly approve" and "approve" responses). Now all is right in the world and she greets me with, "I always have time for you, my dear!"
My quizzie definitely considers her a close ally and dear friend. She's just a fantastically written character. Yeah, sometimes I cringe when she talks to Cole, but outside of that, I just adore this woman. She's definitely my favorite companion in the series (supplanting Sigrun from her spot)!

D'aaw c: She's one of my favourites too. I just wish there had been more companion quests for her (which I'll also say for other companions) I kinda want to know more about her past. So far, we only have some insight thanks to Cole's banter/ mind-digging with her (though, they're great as they are, since you can understand her reasons and motivations behind things.)So I'm doing a replay of my 'canon' run-through and I was really panicking that Vivienne didn't like me this time around. Is anyone else extremely bothered by her "lets abandon the defenseless Haven villagers" banter during Corypheus' attack on Haven? That's pretty reprehensible, especially from a character whose supposedly has the interests of the common people of Thedas at heart. Is there a follow up line afterwards that actually talks about this and explains her reasons behind it?

I've never taken her with me on that quest, so I'm not sure. I usually take Dorian with me and, on the one playthrough that I sided with the Templars, I took Solas.

Ironically, she and Varric are the only companions that approve if you save all the Haven's townsfolk. She can still be an total ass however. Yesterday, we were at the Esmerald graves and she Called the refugees there rats. Well, **** you too Vivienne.

I've never heard that, but it sounds like she's being a pragmatist in the moment; if the Herald doesn't survive in order to fight Corypheus, then it doesn't matter how many people you've rescued. Running into burning buildings to rescue townspeople is a nice thing to do, and as a completionist I want to always try to, but I'm guessing all the dialogue was written to maintain a sense of urgency by having characters like Vivienne remind the player of the bigger picture.

I found it odd that she said that and approved when I saved all the villagers. There's no particular follow up line, but when you first speak with her at Skyhold, she asks how you are and if you choose the "too many people died" option with the crying eye, she also approves. I can't remember what she said in response exactly, but it wasn't anything out of line or rude, so I assume the approval wasn't like I APPROVE OF YOUR SADNESS but something more like acknowledging or supporting. Like syllogi said, she probably is a pragmatist but still, at heart...cares? She's probably just trying to save face after such a display of callous pragmatism.

If that's your take-away based on her approving of you saving everyone and then approving of your remorse, I'm not sure if there's anything anyone can say to you that will lead to productive conversation.

I did say probably.
Who knows really? Vivienne definitely isn't evil in my eyes or even a character I hate, I just find her pragmatism callous in that one moment and overall believe that her Orlesian flattery and not so subtle jabs surprisingly transparent for a master of "the Game". Also, when I play any fantasy RPG I always identify with the helpless villagers that need saving, so seeing Vivienne just blow them off with her typical disregard for the masses bothered me on a personal level.
But hey, since she didn't blow up a Chantry and start a war, she's mostly alright in my book.
