You know, I figured out whom Vivienne reminds me of: the Sith Inquisitor from The Old Republic. Spoilers from that game will follow, by the way.
The Sith Inquisitor was a slave of the Sith Empire, and very possibly an alien--nonhumans are considered second-class citizens at best. However, being Force-sensitive in a time when the Sith needed more recruits, the Inquisitor was allowed to enter the Sith Academy, and winds up rising beyond everyone's expectations, becoming a true Sith and a growing power within the Empire. This culminates in a very long and drawn-out war of influence with another Sith, who sits on the Empire's ruling Dark Council, but the Inquisitor ultimately wins and, in killing their rival, seizes his seat on the Dark Council.
The Inquisitor, in personality, was frequently snarky and cutting, and could be almost insanely cruel if taken down the Dark Side path, but a Light Side one will reveal a more balanced personality, one invested in the Sith Empire and building their power within it, but not wholly without compassion for some of the poor souls caught up in their wake, and possibly trying to seek some sort of ordered reconciliation with the Galactic Republic without letting them destroy the Empire altogether. I think there are a lot of potential parallels to Vivienne through all of this, and since the Inquisitor was my favorite class, seeing them might be interesting indeed...
