I wish they should've have African Royal clothing and jewelry for Vivienne now that would be awesome!!

 

I don't really see Vivienne wearing that type of garb even if anything like it existed in Thedas and it really fit her character either.

 

Vivienne lives and breathes the courtly intrigue of Orlais and that is where the persona of "Madme de Fer" that she wears is most at home. She has to be pressed to even tell the Inquisitor that she was either born in the Marches to Rivaini parents, but she clearly does not consider herself either a Marcher nor Rivaini.

 

It's probably fair to say that Vivienne considers Orlais far superior to either of those nations and may consider herself to be an Orlesian more than anything else, in which case then her current outfit definitely is fitting. Her fancy clothes scream Orlais loud enough that even an Avvar like Skywatcher is able to instantly recognise her as being Orlesian.

Vivienne doesn't have African heritage. There is no Africa in Thedas.

She's not of African heritage though, she's of Rivaini heritage and even they do not appear to dress in that manner, so the point is kind of moot.

I wish she's a romance option she's got class and spice!! Pity BioWare wasted that potential.

My regret is that we cna't selectively remove hats from our companions.

 

I would be happy to leave Madame de Fer with her glorious hats while everyone else went bare-headed.

 

I am hoping they'll bring back the option to have headgear be visible in cutscenes. I was so disappointed that my Inquisitor's beloved Orlesian mask did not show up in cutscenes. It fitted so well with her and where she was at in her character arc.

Like other places in the real world, Africa does not exist in the fictional world of Thedas so Vivienne cannot be of African descent nor can she be culturally African. This does not mean Vivienne is not a woman of color: it simply means that Vivienne cannot be African.

Rivainni is a nationality not a race. And they even didn't put in the game that she was from there, and BioWare should have a multicultural enviroment before they put PoC in games and not just sexually diverse writers like Ubisoft done with the Assassin's Creed series.

I actually quite liked that gift and I remember my Inquisitor making something for Vivienne in return. I think it was a staff and that I poured some of my best materials into it. I also made a friendship-hat for Dorian.

 

I'm hoping crafting with naming will be returning in the next game with the addition of craftable jewelry. Don't care if it is not visible jewelry: I would just really like to be able to craft and name jewelry.

 

I genuinely love the idea that my Inquisitor personally made some of the things her companion wore like that she made Cole a new set of clothes because she was worried he'd get cold, that she made a new bow for Sera when her old one broke and that despite their bad break-up, she made Solas new armor because she was worried he'd get hurt in his old one after he went down in a previous fight.  

 

It's just adorable headcanon that I love.

I figured as much. Isabella looks like a European woman with dark skin and straight hair. While the picture actually looks like a black woman with dreads.

Isabella is a Riviani Black woman....   And plus who cares about skin color? We'd all be black if we stood out in the sun long ago - and we'd be white if we lived in a cold climate. Isabela lived in Riviani, as did Vivienne.

Since Vivienne was in an Orlesian Circle, I wonder if Vivienne's parents immigrated to Orlais or if her family had been around in Orlais for some time. I think she'd likely have been living in Orlais if she was in an Orlesian Circle. As far as I know, mages don't tend to be transferred from Circle to Circle unless something happened to their previous Circle like, say, the facility became too damaged for them to live there. I also do not think Rivain has Circles.
