what? Steve was the most boring character ever. He didn't have any personality flaws. He was just there and that was it. Gay men aren't better treated than lesbian women....
No character flaws? Steve favored the M44 Hammerhead.

there was only one topic: his dead ex boyfriend. as if we hadn't enough characters with dead mate issues... : x
I think in video games gays are the least favored group of companys, then lesbians, then straight females and then (with a huge gap) straight males.

Whether Steve was boring or not, it's a matter of personal taste. Meanwhile, referring to Samantha again, I just checked how that tub scene looked like for femShep who romanced her. You know it was whole minute shorter (and more tame)? And apart of tease, straight men actually got to know more about her personality than those who were in actual relationship with her.
Now that shows the priorities of people who made that character.

also the Anders romance seemed to be more developed and touching with females than with males. I think it's because straight characters are still prefered when it comes to development. But it happens to gay people also. Steve wasn't as developed as the other characters, no matter how much some people like him. I could also tell you people who like Samantha, and still both of them aren't really important.
and at least lesbians had characters like samantha, liara, kelly, etc. There was no bisexual male character in the first games at all. I agree that the straight romances are often better developed, but I don't agree that lesbian romances are worse than gay ones, or that lesbians are worse treated. That's not true. Both groups are disadvantaged.

I don't deny that he wasn't very developed, but his romance still had overall more dialogue time, had meet-up scene on Citadel, which Sam lacked as the only one, and he wasn't there to titillate straight women.
and he wasn't there to titillate straight women.
that's your opinion. You could say the same with Samantha though. It's all subjective.
I found what I was thinking of:
It doesn't say or imply the gender split will be perfectly equal, but personally I think a 5/3 split would be much too "slanted" to be considered at all fair. Unless the two race-gated LIs are both male, and are so heavily gated that they barely count, which I think is unlikely.
Anyway, my point was that I think Viv still has a very good chance of being an LI. ![]()

From my understanding, the other three didn't have this problem.
I tried a romance with him once with a male and once with a female character. You could even get more friendship points with a female character in your conversations with him. And he was more flirty and attracted by you.

This is open to interpretation, mine is this: we will give an equal split between sexual orientation, but if you play as a certain race then you may loose out on the equality.
yes, that's how I understand this too.

Yeah, I never think of Samantha's scene as titillating.
This scene?

Not titillating at all.
There is at least some info coming out today, right?
If Vivienne is a LI what orientation do all of you think it might be? Personally, I'm hoping for bi because I like the sound of the 2/4/2 split.

Bisexual is the only option that won't make me turn into an enraged dragon that tries to eat numerous people.

It does sound appealing especially considering there isn't a bi female companion yet.

maaaaybe
I'm keeping an eye on my YouTube feed in hopes of a new voice actor video.
If she's a bi LI it doesn't matter to me, I just need to have a chance with her. ![]()

I don't find this titillating (for me It's a moronic scene), though I question why they did it. Is the romanced version similar?
Yeah, lesbian presenting her 'attributes' to a man in semi-nudity is not a titillation at all.
Considering that all the comments are about how Traynor teases Shep, apparently the target audience of that scene, straight men, consider it a titillation. There are also other YT videos of that scene, all have the same comments.
And that's the romanced version:

So it's actually much shorter, gives less insight to Sam's character, and also, is much more tame than the scene of lesbian with a man.
Honestly, looking at a 5/3 split is waaaay too ridiculous for our modern even-steven-Bioware, and since all 8 romances are inside the advisors and companions, Vivienne is the logical choice of 1/3.
And I think as a response to those thinking she's the only female comp left who's not a romance, and her becoming a romance would make all females romanceable- I think it won't feel that way due to race/gender gating mixed with other non-romanceable npcs.

Not to mention it would mean the only WOC is the only woman that's not romanceable.
