So, any official word on her romance status?
Tis surprising really ... Hopes fading ...
... worst Monday ever really.

Morrigan had a hidden agenda but it saves the wardens life maybe Vivs is not that bad.Can you guys come up with something she might want?...Well Vivienne does have a hidden agenda, but I'm sure that by doing certain actions, you can convince her to stay, Bioware won't have a 100% betrayal chance

Power, fame, the usual

More noteriety and stature within the Orlesian government. Maybe her agenda has to do with how mage circles are handled. I could see her developing a plan at removing templars, keeping them from ever returning, and allow the circles to keep existing in terms of teaching mages how to handle magic, the dangers and implications, etc. I could also see her leaving if you help the templars to a certain point if she is the "Circles but no templars" type of mage.
Edit: I would hope that there are certain points to where, if we change our mind about one side (mages/templars), we can switch to the other unless we can resolve the conflict between both without picking sides in which case I will be doing that instead. I recall an interview where Cameron (I think) talks about how you can resolve the mage/templar conflict and that you are able to bring peace between the two, but it will be harder as opposed to siding with one or the other. I can't remember which interview it was though.

Orlais, of course. Vivienne wants Orlais.
Is it wrong that I'm becoming severely pessimistic about their being a Vivienne romance. I just have this feeling she won't, because as we know she's a high-maintenance woman. Her goals are to achieve power, prestige, and advancement. I feel as if joining the Inquisition is simply a means to an end for her, and that she'll be so caught up with class progression and gaining influence she won't allow herself to be bothered with a romance. Though I feel as if the more pessimistic and low my expectations are, if she is revealed as a romance the surprise will be enough to shock me into going bonkers and squeaking with joy, but that also assumes she'll be bisexual, also adding to the fact she'll have a race gate, and if she isn't a Li at least Scribbles (I'll always call her that no matter what) swooped in to save the day.
Also because this thread can never have enough Viv fanart I saw this pic of Vivienne set in Mass Effect that just made me snort with love.
Hi! I'm poking over from the Varric thread, and wanted to say hi!
We are playing the Petquisition! game right now, if anyone is interested!
Group submissions are accepted, so I thought it would be fun for all of the character threads to make their own group chart!
Check it out if you are interested, and be sure to post a group chart if you want in the OP!

Poor Vivienne thread *props you up*
Mary, you need to stop making wonderfully complex and nuanced characters that are easy to dismiss as simple tropes. Silent brooder (sten), stupid virgil (merril), buddy bro (varric), ***** social climber (vivienne.)
why do you do this to youtself? Your chracters could be so much more popular if you made it obvious they were as interesting as they are.
Doesn't it get frustrating to see people write-off your companions over and over again? Even after the game comes out, you know 70% of the people will decide theri first impression of vivienne is all there is too her.
That's because we know nothing about Vivienne yet. Cause nobody is interested in knowing why she loves fashion or why she is even in the circle.
People in this thread just give opinion on the little information they have = like her skin colour, her hat = her haute couture fashion = her mask, her being in Orlais etc. If you go to Solas/Dorian thread they don't talk about all these stuffs. They talk about magic, fade, elves, dreamers, Tevinter imperium, blood magic, necromancy, even having sex with them.... e.t.c

Poor Sten, poor Vivi, poor even Lelianna.
These are characters who slowly became from least favourite to the most ones. I recall times when people saw Sten as a broody zealot and nothing more. Nowadays even not his fans can't help but d'aww and call him Big Softie
We just need some time for people to appreciate them

Oh, don't worry, I still see him as a broody zealot. And enemy agent.

'Tis a shame, but it's your choice
I see him as my favourite companion and kadan
I'm sure that Vivienne, who at first glance is cold and pragmatical, also will become my favourite buddy eventually
Mary Kirby doesn't write bad characters, period. I may dislike Merril, but that more due to retcon, rather than her personality. And Bioware do love retcons. Bad ones and good ones...

The whole "wants to leash me and sew my mouth shut" thing is kind of hard to get past, I confess.

Sten doesn't want to do it. It's not his job anyway
Otherwise he would kill himself after talking to Wynne. Cuz she's possessed and talking to possessed mages means getting "poisoned" oneself
That's... qunari thing. You wouldn't understand XD

Right, but if his army won, that would be my ultimate fate regardless. And he still supports that.

So does Iron Bull, prolly.
Sten himself doesn't seem to enjoy violence and sates that he wishes that he won't have to fight the Warden. But he is a man of honour and duty. He fights for his country and for his people. Even if it'll mean dying, he won't give up
As he said, life isn't exactly fair and if you don't have anything to regret... then you have either a good life, or a bad memory. Or sth like that
Nothing of this has anything to do with Vivienne, btw. So can you stop making off-thread conversations?
Suledin posted this on the Twitter thread. Try to ignore the chest hair...
I don't know if this screenshot has already been posted here. If so, forgive me.
Spoiler
Her fact seems a bit different. Possibly an alpha Shot?
The location seems Empris du Lion.

I think she looks the same as in the companion video actually. Thankfully, the glistening seems to be absent this time possibly confirming that it was a lighting issue.
Edit: That does look like an outfit variation though. I kind of prefer her without the poofy shoulders tbh.
Her headdress is so hypnotizing. ![]()

Well, we know she's anti-rebellion, but not necessarily pro-Templar. If anyone's familiar with the Wheel of Time series, I think she might want to end up in a position similar to Amyrlin Egwene-- she believes that the system can work if changes are made, and she's CLEARLY the best one to make the changes. Other people might just not see it yet, but she'll show them.
I could also see her having a similar arc to Egwene's in that first she's all about the Chantry/Tower approved magics, but upon getting to know Solas's abilities a bit better she might want to develop the research of the Circles and bring in more hedge mages to discuss their unique abilities, even if they're locked off from being 'full' mages.
Although if there's a way to cure Tranquils, I see no reason why hedge mages wouldn't be able to overcome their magic-blockage to become fully-powered mages. With serious effort of course.
