Does that even matter with mage Trevelyan, though, considering he/she is now the Inquisitor and no longer a Circle mage? And I'm not even mentioning the fact that being a "Circle mage" doesn't really seem to mean anything anymore.

It does'nt really, but if Trevalyan tried to grab political power before everything went to sh*t then the Chantry would've shut him/her down fast.

I don't know... if she can find power somewhere, I think she could adapt to it fairly well.

I wonder if Vivienne and the Human Inquisitor are from the same City

I see no reason why Vivienne would favor an elf, dwarf or qunari over a human (no offence to the fans of those races). If she is a romance then I expect her to be the one that gets race-gated.

Feel free to give a reason why she wouldn't be. I'm curious how people view it :)

Because her not being interested in the human Inquisitor wouldn't necessarily have to be a result of not being attracted to humans. It could just be about having antagonism based on your background as a Trevalyan.

Edit: In other words favoring a race doesn't have to factor into anything.

The Hat. It has Horns. Qunari have Horns. Vivienne semi-confirmed for Qunari.

Im veering off topic here, but i read this on the wiki about Nevarra the other day.

"Ferdinand Pentaghast, younger brother of Markus, is the next in line to rule. However he is also old and has no interest in ruling, and neither brother have any known children. The future of the Pentaghast dynasty hangs in the balance."

With very few Pentaghasts left, there could be a race gating situation similar to how Anora was also race-gated (Before we even called it that!!!) in Origins with Cas trying to take the throne. Its just a speculation of course.... i have very few ideas when it comes to who could be the other race gated LI

The outfit gave it away for me.Vivienne seems like the type who doesn't settle for anything but the absolute best.

You hate her based on fan speculation?

This is like the dude who decided he'd romance Josephine because someone wrote a dialogue where Cassandra had a lot of pubic hair. There's no evidence that Vivienne goes around making servants cry.

But I do know she is about as personable as an angry viper. For goodness sake, she has a pre-approved gift list, as in "Get me exactly these things". You really don't think she'd be like the fanart shown if someone does something she doesn't agree with?

I have a friend who has given me a pre-approved gift list before his wedding. I was eternally grateful for it. No hassle of having to find something I hoped he and his fiance would like. Just go to the store, buy it, and wrap it up. Simple.

Of course, I come from a family where my mother asked my father for a microwave as a wedding present. He always called her his 'practical princess'. Gift-giving, to us, means asking the perspective 'giftee' what they want, and buying it. So a list like the one Vivienne provides is only sensible in our view.

As to how Vivienne treats the servants, it really is a non-canon source. Making speculations about her character based on it really is far too presumptive. It's possible she's the type to micro-manage, taking the cook into the kitchen and showing her EXACTLY how to make the dish. I doubt it, but it's an equally valid interpretation of her character given the circumstances.

And for all we know, she may have had to make compromises on her dining habits since joining the Inquisition, eating only sparingly, since 'no one at Skyhold knows how to cook'. So if a servant made that kind of effort to get her a dish like the one in the comic, she might be incredibly touched by the gesture, though she may now show it. Again, an equally valid interpretation at this point.

A response fanfic to this comic. In no way is it a negative commentary on the comic or its interpretation of Vivienne as a character. It's just a story I had to get out of my head at 3am in the morning. Hope my fellow Viv fans enjoy it!

I'm feeling free today :). My view point is that it does not make sense for someone with ambition to close the door on any race, Vivienne is about getting what she wants. I would not by any means necessary though, yet.

On the other hand given her working up the ladder in Orlais and mingling bigot noble folk, I can also understand why she would have racial preference especially against elves.

Anyone know if she has a noble heritage?

"She's ambitious and will do anything for power" is the reason people gave when they said Morrigan would be the bisexual romance.

Vivienne is not the personification of ambition. That's one aspect of her. We haven't played the game so we don't know those other aspects of her, but I expect she's a multifaceted character. Her choice of sexual and romantic partners is probably a bit more nuanced than whatever increases her social status the most.

Its how I feel about it as well. I don't think for a second that she would be racist towards other races, but simply prefers humans because they fit her social standing. She has played The Game for a long time -- so did Celene and look what happend to her when people found out about Briala.

This isn't more of a thing? I'd personally rather people not waste money on stuff I don't want and focus on getting me stuff I do want.

Anyone know if she has a noble heritage?

I think it's possible. She claims to have no last name, but the way Mary Kirby worded it sounded like she definitely does. Historically, it's only really nobles who had last names, and while this doesn't really correlate as well in Thedas, most characters with last names have noble heritage. Therefore, she could either resent her family, thus denying she's one of them, or her family has shamed themselves and become something of a joke. Personally, I think it's more likely she resents them. She took the court mage position despite it being considered a joke position after all.
