I just have to say that after hearing that Vivienne is voiced by the incomparable Indira Varma, I am SO excited to meet her!

wow I have to admit I didn't have Vivienne on my romance radar (Josephine for my human Inquisitor and Iron Bull for Qunari so far) until I heard
that Indira Varma was voicing her
I'm a big fan of her so now I'm really excited to roll a Inquisitor just for her romance
Its also sad that compared to the other companions Vivienne in particular gets a lot of unnecessary hate I wonder why?
Sure she seems to have her own ambitions and secret agenda but so did Morrigan and everyone loves her

I think it's how much more self-assured Vivienne seems to be than Morrigan. Both of them have quite a few similarities, but Vivienne is socially deft, perhaps nearly unparalleled in it amongst the companions, and she's self-assured. She's how I very much imagine Morrigan might be if she were raised in a city and ten years older from Origin. So the ego and position of social power and influence, as well as her apparent materialism (or at least, I surmise as much from her wardrobe), might make people hate her more.
Personally, these things just endear me more to her.

I dunno I guess some folk don't want to be verbally spanked, as for me I loved Morrigan's snark and attitude, yep I think I'm gonna like Vivienne alot too.

I'd also factor in the fact she appears to be very much so (culturally) Orlesian, while also being described as pro-Circle which apparently makes her a traitor to mages everywhere.
That's also a good point, although I imagine her Orlesian-ness might be a factor in her being pro-Circle, given that it's the heart of the Chantry. I could be wrong, however, there are plenty of reasons that someone might be pro-Circle even outside of Chantry influence. I hadn't really thought of how that might influence others' perceptions of her.
And some of the very extreme, hardline pro-Circle people also seem to dislike Mages with any position of power or influence, so that would alienate her to that crowd. So all of these factors probably serve to make her less than popular. The fact that she's been heavily implied to be a traitor (which I doubt, unless Bioware wants to show its hand early, or the traitor varies based on influence) also doesn't help.
But, hey, more Vivienne for me, I guess. ;D
