I don't care if women have more options overall. I only care that I can romance Vivienne with my main inquisitor, who will be male.

 

I'm already more infatuated with her than I was with Morrigan after playing Origins.

There is strong possibility for Vivienne to be bi mostly because of the companion balance, if she was straight that would made at least two female companion straight and only one companion pan, Ironbull but if they go for total balance she is defiantly straight, well of all the companions both her and Cassandra were my favorites and I was planing my first PT with Vivienne as romance. I guess it is a safe bet now that my feminquisitor in going Josephine.

I've been of the opinion for awhile now that Vivienne is racegated to Male Humans, but with the Solas news today, if I am right, it's unlikely we'll get new romance news anytime soon.

The announced Dorian and Sera around the same time both homosexuals.  Sure there were a few comments from straight people, but nothing like will happen if Vivienne turns out to be straight(even worse if gated) and announced this weekend.

Hey guys! From the Solas thread here...just wanted to say to keep the faith and that I am totally rooting for Vivienne to be the last one!! At the very least, the last option should be bi or gay. I definitely think it will be Vivienne for all of the reasons you guys very likely know, so I'll be lurking in here now that the person I was going for got confirmed, and hoping with all of you that Vivienne will be the last.

I'm not familiar with ME2, but hopefully they won't have the LI bow down to the player wishes when it comes to romance.  That is to say, if Blackwall feels strongly that it's too emotionally risky to pursue a romance with so little time left, I'd want for that viewpoint to hold no matter what the player wants.  Sorta like Aveline.

More importantly, is there any information on how the Inquisitor finds out about the sexualities and race-gating?  I can't remember what it was like in DA:O, but I'd prefer to have the ability to flirt with all 12 companions and advisers or have them off-hand mention it rather than magically knowing all their preferences and not having the option to flirt.

The difference being, Thane in Mass Effect 2 was a solid romance, and fans of Thane went into Mass Effect 3 optimistic that BioWare would give them a proper conclusion to the Thane romance.  But BioWare just went lolthanedies, and they pretty much handled Thane like they handled the endings, they didn't bother trying.

 

When it comes to Blackwall, Inquisition will be the only time he's a companion in the Dragon Age series, so they can write a great romance for him, similar to Thane in Mass Effect 2, where we know he's going to die, he knows he's going to die but nobody cares because you live for the moment.

 

They can easily off Blackwall in the next game when he goes on his calling, since by then we'll have a new character and we don't care about the old characters.

I thought Thane's death was a fitting end for him, he took the fight to a Reaper Enhanced N7 Super Soldier, and looked good in doing so(other than jumping onto a sword, but I blame poor animation for that, my headcannon of that scene is much different)
