I think Morrigan's remark to Alistair sums it up best. Wishing to be intelligent doesn't necessarily make it so (or something like that - can't remember the exact line).
Were you responding to my post? I'll just assume you were.... Morrigan is wrong about lots of things. If you take Morrigan's thoughts as gospel, you're going to run into some problems.
Oghren is the same. One could write him off as a drunk and a lecher, but if you look past that, there's way more.

Those that don't like the character will agree with Morrigan, but there's nothing in his speech or behavior that says that's true.

Apologies for the confusion there Errant-Knight.
And Maker forbid, I wouldn't take Morrigan or Leliana's opinions/thoughts as gospel. It's like having the little angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other giving you advice.

I got the impression Oghren was supposed to be an annoying companion.
Humorously annoying, yeah, but with a good heart. That's how I took it anyway.

@ mousestalker and SuperMaori... I'm one of those terrible people who really doesn't like stupid people. I truly can't tolerate to be around them any more than I have to be. Alistair is not stupid. He's naive and lacks real world experience but that does not equate to stupid.
I'll accept your correction. I may have been a tad too Ali intolerant...
Boy, do you ever get huge points for being able to entertain that notion! (errant_knight approves +10)

Haha I love his lines if you are romantically involved with Alistair.
Agreed! Some of those made me laugh out loud. Poor Alistair, how embarrassing....

* Oghren: So. With the boss, aye?
* Alistair: Pardon?
* Oghren: You and the boss. Rolling your oats.
* Alistair: I don't know--
* Oghren: Polishing the footstones.
* Alistair: --what you're--
* Oghren: Tapping the midnight still, if you will.
* Alistair: what are you going on about?
* Oghren: Forging the moaning statue. Bucking the forbidden horse. Donning the velvet hat.
* Alistair: Are you just making these up right now?
* Oghren: Nope. Been saving 'em.

Right. Now a game like this, without some drunk dwarf thing, that would really be annoying!thegreateski wrote...

Interesting drunken dwarves = priceless.
Not sure how many of them exsist in a fantasy genre tbh.

Oghren is the most loyal friend your character can have [besides Dog] if you get his approval up. Unless you tell him to buzz off, he will not leave your party. Ever. Nor can you kill him despite some false guide's suggestions that you can. He has no crisis moment which will cause him to turn against you. He will stand with you, to the bitter end, where others will turn against you or get butthurt and leave, he will stay and fight to the death.
If you can't appreciate the only character besides Dog who will always be at your side, well I feel pretty freaken sorry for you. He is a masterful character, and unless you get his approval high [not an easy task] and keep him in your party for much of the game to experience his dialogue, you are basically speaking out of your rear and have no clue what you're talking about.
Same thing if I judged Leliana by her initial dialogues. If I did, I'd find her to be tragically boring and a the typical 'goody female' of the team.

He's interesting in the Fade part of the Circle Tower, he is interesting when talking at the Guardian, hell he even has a few things to say about Gorim in Denerim and Zathrian in the Nature of the Beast questline. I like him.

Where else do you find dwarves, drunk or otherwise? I feel like I must be missing out on something...
