There is no way in heck that consoles have a larger library, or a larger number of exclusives than PC.

The number of AAA exclusives are tiny. They are basically first party only titles (every third party outside Japanese ones releases on PC, and even that's changing), that come out once, maybe twice a year, and for which you'd have to own at least 2 consoles to play.

Clearly you missed my point about more AAA titles on the console ...

Speaking about games you wont be playing on your PC ... Destiny for example is not heading to the PC anytime soon. A more console specific game (PS4) Bloodborne.

I'll take a Total War or a To the moon, or a Gone home, or a Pillars of Eternity over an The Order, any day of the week.

It's your call, and if you prefer these games, good for you.

PC's greatest advantage, which is being an open platform, is also it's greatest disadvantage. As PC gamers, we have no company to back us up, to draw third party developers to our side. We have exclusives too sure, but rarely are they games like God of War series, Infamous series, Halo series etc. We get screwed by developers like Bungie who spit on us by not releasing even a fully online game like Destiny while commenting by saying things like "we feel bad for PC players".

Then we have companies like Lionhead and Square Enix who want us to beg(petition) for their games to be released on PC. When they do release their games, half the time, it's sloppy ports that takes 2 titans to run the game at 50 FPS. You talk about PC being better because it has options and consoles don't, but that's only on the hardware side. Doesn't matter how amazing your PC hardware is if you don't have anything other than those damn MOBAs and MMOs to play.

Also, saying that games like The Order don't interest you is irrelevant. The fact stands that we have no access to certain games even though we can easily run them because Sony and Microsoft have made backdoor deals with their developers to make sure of it. And I believe this will continue to happen throughout the generation.

There is a good chance PC players will have the last laugh. The budget for Destiny is insane and, in my opinion, utterly ridiculous for a new IP which almost brings nothing new to the shooter market. They kept, or still keep, claiming that Destiny is not an MMO and yet has all ingredients which make it an MMO. I can easily see Destiny turning into a financial flop. Just as in the movie industry a bubble is going to burst soon if budgets don't come down to more reasonable levels.

It might just be the game I get with a new PS4 in autumn by the looks of it.

I had hoped to have "Witcher 3" along with it, two epic rpg's to enjoy right from the start, but I'll settle for one. Judging by the size of both titles it may be a blessing one was delayed.

I'll be shunning society enough as it is with just "Inquisition" in my possession.

I can't comment on it because I don't have a console to try the game out, but the game feels eerily close to FireFall on PC. That game had similar customization for armour, weapons and abilities just like in Destiny, with quite a number of varied creatures and enemies to fight and whatnot. Despite that, it just felt bland and uninteresting, granted it still has a sizable community. My friend owns an XB1 and has played FireFall, so he will let me know how Destiny is. The open beta is next month apparently.

PC.    Consoles aren't even a consideration for me.    Nothing makes my hands cramp up faster than a controller.   Plus, consoles are too expensive for what you get.   I can build/upgrade a PC for cheaper than the cost of a console + $10 per game extra cost.     I buy a lot of games.

It's a decent game, from what I have seen and played so far, also looking forward to the beta. (also avail on consoles last / current gen).

No need to be jelly, just because you want a game to fail, does not mean it would fail.

Meh, most of those AAA games are only AAA in terms of marketing. They are dumbed down, lowest common denominator, dribble meant to appeal to a broad, casual market.

I tend to stay away from such games.

Moreover, while you are completely right in that there is no $ony or Micro$oft to money-hat developers and to market and subsidize their hardware, that only shows the strength of the PC exclusive catalog, and the strength of the platform overall.

Think about it: When was the last time you saw a TV commercial about how awesome PC gaming is and how it's where "Greatness Awaits" or some such nonsense? Never, would be my guess. How about a TV commercial of a PC exclusive game? Heck, even multi-plat games will show a trailer, then either a big Sony logo at the end or a big Xbox one. Or they'll show both console retail boxes and you'll see a tiny little PC logo on the bottom right corner. EVEN PC exclusives that ARE featured in big marketing pushes like Diablo 3 or Star Craft 2 or the Sims, rarely even mention the platform of the game. They Just show a small logo at the end or some guy crams "PC/MAC!" breathlessly in the last .25 seconds of the trailer.

No one is paying to make PC hardware cheaper, no one pushes the platform in the market space, and no one money-hats developers into spending millions on PC exclusive games.

AND YET - PC gaming brought in more revenue than all consoles combined last year. The biggest, most popular games on the planet are PC EXCLUSIVES. The most talked about independent games last year were PC exclusives, or only available on PC first. There are over 80 million active Steam users, with an overall Steam install base of over 130 million, and other digital marketplaces are doing well too like battle.net, GOG and Origin.

Heck, most of the biggest publishers in the biz have PC exlcusive titles, while only a few have console exclusive ones, and they are all bought by MS or Sony or even Nintendo. Why would they do that, given that no one is paying them to do so? EA was TOR, Sim City and the Sims (no the console version is not the same game). Activision/Blizzard has SC, WOW. Ubisoft has The Might and Magic and Heroes of MM games as well as the Settlers, and a couple of others. Take 2 has of course Civ series, stronghold series and a few others.

PC gaming is huge, larger than any single console, inspite of not having a Sony or Microsoft, as you mentioned, behind it. I think that alone speaks to all the amazing ways this platform is better than consoles and always will be.

Because, no one would be talking about Xbox if it wasn't for the billions of dollars Microsoft has sunk into that brand.

In the short term, yes I pay for per game, but in the long run I recoup my money from the lower electricity bills.

Based on your analysis you imply Dragon Age Inquisition is not a AAA game? Will you be staying away from DA:I too?

How long a run are we talking about here? And surely that would only start paying off for you after you've stopped buying games. Electricity ain't that expensive.

PC gaming is huge, larger than any single console (...)

And yet, no single game that comes out both for PC and the current/last gen consoles sells more units on the former platform, now does it? That's a legitimate question, by the way. If there are examples of it, I'd sure like to know.

I mean, even Minecraft managed to sell more on the consoles, if you can believe the producer itself.

I can't controller because my thumbs bend funny.... I then can't turn left with ease.  Since I cannot ambiturn on consoles, I PC.  And while this was typed tongue in cheek, it is actually true.  I haven't been able to console with any ability for the last 6 years.  Sad panda.

Edited to add:  I play turn based games still on PS2.  Woo!  Go me.

PC.

I've considered buying a PS4, but It's still an awful lot of money for gaining access to a limited number of interesting exclusives.

(And RPGs are a pain to play on consoles).

Not trying to sound like a fanboy .. I am truely not. :P . Just tired of dodgy opinions trying to put console players in a corner.

Here is some maths from one of the other threads:

last I checked an average PC can guzzle up to 500 watts ... Assuming you play DAI for the quoted 50 hour speed run, you will have consumed 25 Kilo watts of power per hour (kWh). The PS4 used about 140 Watts, or 7 kWh for the equivalent play through.

Approx 4 times more efficient, in the UK the avg cos of electricity is £0.172 pence per KWh, final costs:

+ £1.20 for the PS4
+ £4.30 for the PC

This again? Didn't we already hash this out in another thread? The savings in electricity <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Savings from PC games and not having to pay for multi-player.

Not to mention that any significant differences are reserved for very high end CPU + GPu combos, and newer GPU's are starting to use less and less power, thanks to small manufacturing processes.

1. Dragon Age has definitely been hit with the consolification stick here and there, but it's still looking like a great, deep game. I did say MOST, not ALL AAA games are of no interest to me.

2. Seriously? LOL, DOTA2, WOW, Minecraft (I know, it eventually made it to consoles, but the PC version is still the most updated and fully featured version), The Sims?

3. Not sure what this has to do with anything, but ok. Good for you, I'll share too: I own an Xbone. I don't use it for games, but it's a great little home theater device.

Xbox 360. I'm not getting it for the X1 as that console's open to the entire family. Don't need my parents walking in on my mage m!Qunari Inquisitor getting cozy with Bull. Explaining that to my parents would not end well.

Yes there are games that sold better on PC. Diablo 3, Portal 2, Battlefield 3 (or was it bad company 2, don't remember), DA:O, Xcom:EU.

Of course other games like Minecraft, Skyrim, Left 4 dead, CS Go, Battlefield 4, and many, many others have sold JUST AS WELL as any single console, or better than any single console in some cases...

I'm going to guess that you're just lumping together, what? 4 different platforms and stacking them all against the PC, right? Rather lopsided assessment, no? Does the PC have to single handedly beat 4 platforms in order for it to count?

Currently: Xbox 360 and PS3.

If I love the game then I'll get DA:I on PS4 and Xbox One when I get those consoles.

Maybe one day I MIGHT get Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Origins-Awakenings, Dragon Age II, and Dragon Age: Inquisition on PC when get the money to upgrade my current PC or get a new PC although outside of some awesome mods I doubt I will enjoy playing them on the PC I suck and keyboard and mouse games. Now Point-and-Click PC games I used to be pretty good at, except it's murder on my wrists now of days.

Both XBOX 360 controller and XBOX ONE controller are fully supported by PC. There are very few games that actually don't support them, one of them being DA 2.
