This is an open letter to all the staff at Bioware,
I'm writing this to thank you all for all the hours of fun, enjoyment, and emotion you've provided me with over the years. I've discovering the delights of Faerun and Lady Aribeth with Neverwinter Nights, been shocked by the twist in Knights of the Old Republic, explored dungeons in Neverwinter Nights 2, searched the galaxy for Saren as Commander Shepard in Mass Effect, and most recently been totally absorbed into the world of Dragon Age, 80 hours of my life that I would gladly hand over again for the same experience. I now await eagerly the arrival of Mass Effect 2, and I have no expectations, because I know the game is in the best hands possible.
Whilst I've not by some peoples standards had the hardest of lives, I have been struggling with depression and anxiety since 2004, but certain things enable me to carry on with the daily grind, my girlfriend, Family Guy and American Dad on tap (Thank you Seth!), and the ability to lose myself in the worlds and galaxies you have created. I've taken lessons from your creations, aspirations and inspirations alongside just plain old fun and enjoyment, learnt more about standing up for what you believe in, having the courage to go it alone, but also the value of having friends around you who will back you up. In short, I've learnt to appreciate all that I have and to strive to become my own "Commander Shepard" or "Gray Warden".
I hope that if any of you ever get exasperated when some forum troll posts up about some minor little detail that they're not happy with, or boasts how they're going to pirate the game, this letter will go some way to redressing that annoyance. You people are doing great work and with the greatest respect to other companies such as Bethesda, no one else comes close.
Many thanks for hours of entertainment and lessons in life.
Dan
