Why isn't this on Steam?

I realize that EA has Origin but frankly I am not going to switch to their game service as I already own over 300 games in Steam and I prefer it.  I would love to see EA decide to do what is right for gamers and release the thing on Steam, not down the road, on release day.

some disagreement between Valve & EA that happened a while back. I think it had to do with %age.

They are doing the right thing for gamers, it is being released across all platforms, it is your choice not to install origin, you already admitted having steam an over 300 games on it, so having Origin installed on your pc alongside it should pose no problems with you

Steam wants a slice of the DLC sales.

Well there is a problem for me, I don't want to have my game library divided between two services and I don't need yet another application running in my background eating up resources just for the heck of it.  This is the equivalent of EA only selling their games at an EA run store and refusing to let the largest stores like Gamestop or Walmart sell it.   I would imagine they are limiting their PC sales by not offering it on the most popular digital PC gaming service that the vast majority of PC gamers use.

You don't need Origin running in the background, except when you're playing the game

And you don't need Steam running in the background when you're playing games on Origin.

I launch Steam when I want Steam. I launch Origin when I want Origin. I close them when I'm done.

I appreciate the info but that doesn't take care of my largest problem, I don't want my games to be split among multiple services.  So my remaining option is to buy a hard copy which I don't prefer because I have to hang onto a box for eternity.  It is like I the consumer is being punished because EA can't work out a deal with Steam.

If you buy a hard copy, you'll still need Origin.

And, yes, it'd be better if Steam and EA came to an agreement.  But it's no more EA's fault that they can't than it is Steam's.

Or you can buy the game and learn to deal with having two game libraries.

Having the game on Origin doesn't cost them any money. Having it on steam, does. Having to install multiple services is annoying, I know, but there's nothing we can do about it.

Because Steam isn't a saint and takes quite a big slice of the cake.

Snip.

Last I checked, just pointing that out was a bannable offense.

You do know that nothing is ever Valve's fault right? I believe Valve is seen as some kind of saint by what seems to be a serious amount of PC gamers. I don't think any company should ever be given the power Valve has currently. It is only inevitable the power will be abused.

You can play certain games like Sims 3 completely offline even if running through Origins. Sometimes, when I'm outside and forgot to sign in 24 hours, I can't play anything regardless with Steam. To be honest, I'm one of those few people who prefer to buy games on Origins. I'm glad it's on Origins, and probably wouldn't have picked it up if it's on Steam. As for why it's not on Steam, it's the same reason why Mario is not released on PS4.

Oh, I didn't realize it was one or the other. I'd better delete all my Steam games before I play Inquisition.

I don't trust people to buy for their games with DRM. Witcher being one of the few AAA games with no DRM and the amount of piracy is astonishing.

I look forward to the day when all of Bioware's new games can be played on something akin to GOG Galaxy:

http://www.gog.com/galaxy

Allowing Players the choice to play when, how, and where they wish sounds terrific to me. IMO, of course.

by US anti-trust laws, 25% market share is enough to trigger regulatory action.

valve has roughly 70% of online game sales.

If this were the norm, almost every game could be included. Everyone would seem to win.

Hmm, I have Steam, Uplay, Gamefly, GOG, Origin & Gamestop for all the services I play games off of, I use what is available for the games I want to play not strictly one service and they all don't need to be running all at once. Though I do leave steam up because of my friends list.

Origin isn't a horrible service that many claimed it used to be, I've had no problems with it since I've had it on my system.

Forced patching is definitely their fault.  I hate that Valve has seemingly made it okay for distributors to decide which version of a game we get to play.
