Flemeth had a grimoire in DAO, and there are enemy mages that use some kind of tomes. I doubt the mage class will get one that is actually usable in combat though, finding one for a specialization or somesuch seems more likely.

Well there's Flemeth grimoire?
Probably has lots of funny thing in it.
I know there was some (non released) promotional material with someone looking like Morrigan holding an open book.
Maybe we're going to find some powerful grimoire in DAI , I don't know.
There were also the Forbidden tomes and the Tome of the Slumbering Elders in DA2.

There is no power in the book of shadows. It was created by a charlatan in the 1940s and has no link whatsoever to any pagan religions of antiquity. And in any case, magic doesn't exist. Anything in that book about spells is as a great a pile of a nonsense is everything else in that book. It belongs on the fantasy shelf of your local bookstore.
On that note, will the Inquisitor be getting a grimoire filled with fake spells that were written by a fraud? I would hope not.

I think Dukemon was talking about the TV show "Charmed" which use a lot of Wicca lore .

Ah, thanks
I've never watched the series.
Come to think of it, wasn't that one of the sub-quests in Origins? Some guy had been selling fake lore books and we end up confronting him on it. I'm sure that happened. Mind you I could be having one of my dream deja vu episodes again.
I'd have liked to see exactly what was in that Grimoire of Flemeth. I'm pretty sure Morrigan was spinning a yarn over what she found in it.

I also remember this quest.
