"To look dashing"?

:D

Will he have a lisp too?

And the walking animation of the female qunari?

I'm here to look dashing. Man, we've come a long way since the days of "And so is the Golden City blackened / With each step you take in my Hall. Marvel at perfection, for it is fleeting. You have brought Sin to Heaven / And doom upon all the world."

eh what?

Let's see so Bioware has decided to make some characters gay, so that is pandering to the gay agenda and marginalising white, straight male gamers? And you personally don't find the women in DA:I to be attractive, so that means that white male gamers are being left in the cold when it comes to romances? oh and women don't really play games, did I get that right?

Where do I begin?

Including people of different genders, sexuality and races, doesn't marginalise white male gamers. If you think you are getting less choice then perhaps it is because in most other games, you have all the choice. Bioware are trying to be more equal in DA:I and I applaud them for that.

I've spent most of my gaming life as a straight white man romancing female characters, and I'm sure a lot of people on these forms of would say the same. Being able to play as my own gender is sadly still a novelty, being able to romance a choice of male and female characters is sadly still a novelty, hell I can count on one hand the amount of games that allow you to play as gay or bi.

How dare you say, that because bioware has chosen to be inclusive that they are turning their back on straight, white males.

As for the attractiveness of the female companions, I completely disagree, I think they look great, Cass in particularly, they look much more like real women then Triss, Yennefer and Ciri, who look more like a man's idealised image of a woman than a real woman.

Women come in all shapes and sizes, it is nice to have that reflected in a game, instead of all being shown big breasted, tiny waist models.

I think it is ridiculous that you and others are trying to justify your outrage at people wanting more diversity in games, by sticking to the outdated myth that even though 47% of gamers are women, they don't play the right games and so shouldn't be catered too.

Most people I know who play mobile games, don't consider themselves gamers and so wouldn't self identity as such on a survey and yet time and time again, any female gamer is expected to justify her existence, to state her credibility as a gamer in order to join the "club".

You, my friend, is what is wrong with modern gaming.

I know it's not worth it but the proportions of women who play RPG's seems to be higher than in shooters for example. At least that's what fan communities seem to indicate and that's really the only way we can tell. Most of my female friends play games, allot of them play games that are solely marketed to men.

Also why does it matter? If game companies want to include minorities then so be it. So far it doesn't seem to be destroying the market.

I am white, straight, and male.

Are you upset by this, bioware? Am I wrong for being white and straight and male?

No, of course not, I didn't ask to be born this way and to insult somebody for their race, gender and orientation is extremely bigoted.

I've noticed though that bioware is really trying to push the idea that non-white and bi or gay is the only way to play this game, and if one wants to play as a straight character their romance choices are extremely limited. In addition, there's a big emphasis on (dare I say) making the women in this game really quite unfeminine, if for no reason other than to appeal to ugly man-hating tumblr feminists. I'm talking breasts that sag impossibly low (Sera), a pig snout for a nose (Sera) and massive man jaws (Morrigan, Cassandra, Isabela). This is in comparison to Triss, Yennefer and Ciri from The Witcher 3. Women that *gasp* look like women. If bioware wants to make the women pretty ugly then please make the men also repulsive to look at. Thin arms and legs, massive pot bellies and greasy baby faces would be excellent.

It looks to me that bioware is trying to marginalize core gamers (men in their late teens and beyond) in favour of getting the support of the LGBT community and women, in regards to the character design and story. (actual gameplay looks really good though, looks like its moving towards a better version of DA2).

The statistic that 48% of gamers are female is extremely egregious at best. Only a tiny fraction of those females play anything that isn't extremely casual mobile games of which gender norms and sexuality etc do not apply (like flappy bird).

In conclusion, bioware is trying way too hard to appease women, people of colour and LGBT representation in games by shoehorning it all in with absolutely no subtlety and actually harming other groups in the process. The forced nature of this is both incredibly annoying and detrimental to telling a good story and also in my opinion very unflattering to those people bioware is trying to win over. Someone being gay, bi or trans does not make them superior over a straight and non trans person. Please keep that in mind bioware. It feels as if bioware can't decide which audience they want to take seriously.

In addition, I also have to say that the grammar in the promo art for the characters is incorrect and awkward to read.

Those sentences are not gramatically correct. Come on bioware you can do better than this. Or maybe not, the staff that worked on Baldur's Gate 2 are gone and you're now EA's b*tch.

This post makes me physically ill.

Got news for you.....  WOMEN PLAY GAMES. THIS IS NOT 2004.   Sorry if you feel threatened.     Got other news for you...THERE ARE LGBT GAYMERS!!!! THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE REPRESENTED.

You better learn to deal with it.   Because we are NOT going AWAY.

I didn't even read the part about how having people of color, gays and lesbians is apparently detrimental to the story.

Of course it's a troll, that much is obvious.  But something many people who are so dismissive in this thread would be equally loathe to admit is that it also the honest opinion of a not insignificant part of the gaming population.

And how is he right by chance? How is Bioware pro non-whites and against the white male with the romances? And how is providing gay romances somehow a slight against the white heterosexual male? His whole diatribe about the female companions is all his opinion, which others don't even share. I am a white heterosexual male and I see nothing wrong with the like of Cassandra and Vivienne.

Or heck, how is right about the character blurbs? The blurbs are in character and last time I checked in the real world almost nobody speaks perfectly other than English (or whichever language) majors and some college educated people. I much rather have believable characters in a game who speak the way most people do than all characters sounding like they are English majors. I already too often see some forum members on this forum who are obviously college graduates who type in such a manner you have to look up one per sentence. Some of the words used would even be hard to understand for English natives let alone for anyone who has English as a second language.

I'm not trolling.
