She has a manjaw and she is extremely ugly. If you like masculine features on a woman, that is your right but don't try to shove this up on people throat.

''When you say feminine do you mean white and blonde or something?"

Really? Are you really trying to make him sound racist? This is beyond pathetic.

Make him sound racist? He sounds pretty racist to me already.

shove this up on people throat...

Which one are we talking about? Cass? All I said was she looked pretty much the same.

If I was trying to make him sound racist I would not have clarified that I was not trying to make him sound racist. Don't straw man me and then call me pathetic.

I think Cass looks fine. My opinion is better than yours.

Is this the game you wanted to play, OP?

No need to try to make him sound racist since the OP already did this all by himself by making the comment about how Bioware is only designing the game for non-whites (and bi or gay). I really fail to see how they are pushing a non-white agenda somehow. Since when is having a non-white companion equal to pushing a non-white agenda? Is the OP somehow forced to romance Vivienne or he is going to be forced to play as a non-white character? There is no need to defend someone who felt the need to start a thread such as this with overly offensive comments which have no real basis in reality.

I'm going to stay away from commenting on OP's strong opinions as others have already covered what I have to say.

I'll just post my own opinion on the 3 female companions. Sera-ugly, Cassandra-ugly, Vivienne-not ugly but just unattractive. By saying this, it's certainly insulting the fictional characters I just named. If they have a problem with that, they can come out of the game and express their objection. Anyone else getting all fumed up about it, don't be, it doesn't concern you.

Read his post again, he specifically said he wasn't doing that. All he asked was a genuine question. Vivienne is extremely feminine, so why would you think she isn't?

I suppose the importance placed on looks could be seen as insulting to all women. Also some women may share features with some of these characters. I brought this up before when someone on this forum complained about the comments about Cass's jaw because she also has a Jaw like that.

This thread is funny. And the OP ISN't the only reason why it is so funny.

It's also rather nonsensical, because the OP's critique is not 'None of these people are trans.'

Don't continue down this road, there are a myriad of reasons why he wouldn't find her attractive besides race.

I am white, straight, and male.

Are you upset by this, bioware? Am I wrong for being white and straight and male?

No, of course not, I didn't ask to be born this way and to insult somebody for their race, gender and orientation is extremely bigoted.

I've noticed though that bioware is really trying to push the idea that non-white and bi or gay is the only way to play this game, and if one wants to play as a straight character their romance choices are extremely limited. In addition, there's a big emphasis on (dare I say) making the women in this game really quite unfeminine, if for no reason other than to appeal to ugly man-hating tumblr feminists. I'm talking breasts that sag impossibly low (Sera), a pig snout for a nose (Sera) and massive man jaws (Morrigan, Cassandra, Isabela). This is in comparison to Triss, Yennefer and Ciri from The Witcher 3. Women that *gasp* look like women. If bioware wants to make the women pretty ugly then please make the men also repulsive to look at. Thin arms and legs, massive pot bellies and greasy baby faces would be excellent.

It looks to me that bioware is trying to marginalize core gamers (men in their late teens and beyond) in favour of getting the support of the LGBT community and women, in regards to the character design and story. (actual gameplay looks really good though, looks like its moving towards a better version of DA2).

The statistic that 48% of gamers are female is extremely egregious at best. Only a tiny fraction of those females play anything that isn't extremely casual mobile games of which gender norms and sexuality etc do not apply (like flappy bird).

In conclusion, bioware is trying way too hard to appease women, people of colour and LGBT representation in games by shoehorning it all in with absolutely no subtlety and actually harming other groups in the process. The forced nature of this is both incredibly annoying and detrimental to telling a good story and also in my opinion very unflattering to those people bioware is trying to win over. Someone being gay, bi or trans does not make them superior over a straight and non trans person. Please keep that in mind bioware. It feels as if bioware can't decide which audience they want to take seriously.

In addition, I also have to say that the grammar in the promo art for the characters is incorrect and awkward to read.

1404055909955.jpg

Those sentences are not gramatically correct. Come on bioware you can do better than this. Or maybe not, the staff that worked on Baldur's Gate 2 are gone and you're now EA's b*tch.

The only people Bioware are marginalizing and pushing out of their game demographics are racists and bigots like yourself. And hopefully it's working.

Well, the roaster does lack some trans representation, but I don't understand why there's "cis" in the title when he doesn't talk at all about...WHY AM I TRYING TO RATIONALIZE THIS THING ?

eh what?

Let's see so Bioware has decided to make some characters gay, so that is pandering to the gay agenda and marginalising white, straight male gamers? And you personally don't find the women in DA:I to be attractive, so that means that white male gamers are being left in the cold when it comes to romances? oh and women don't really play games, did I get that right?

Where do I begin?

Including people of different genders, sexuality and races, doesn't marginalise white male gamers. If you think you are getting less choice then perhaps it is because in most other games, you have all the choice. Bioware are trying to be more equal in DA:I and I applaud them for that.

I've spent most of my gaming life as a straight white man romancing female characters, and I'm sure a lot of people on these forms of would say the same. Being able to play as my own gender is sadly still a novelty, being able to romance a choice of male and female characters is sadly still a novelty, hell I can count on one hand the amount of games that allow you to play as gay or bi.

How dare you say, that because bioware has chosen to be inclusive that they are turning their back on straight, white males.

As for the attractiveness of the female companions, I completely disagree, I think they look great, Cass in particularly, they look much more like real women then Triss, Yennefer and Ciri, who look more like a man's idealised image of a woman than a real woman.

Women come in all shapes and sizes, it is nice to have that reflected in a game, instead of all being shown big breasted, tiny waist models.

I think it is ridiculous that you and others are trying to justify your outrage at people wanting more diversity in games, by sticking to the outdated myth that even though 47% of gamers are women, they don't play the right games and so shouldn't be catered too.

Most people I know who play mobile games, don't consider themselves gamers and so wouldn't self identity as such on a survey and yet time and time again, any female gamer is expected to justify her existence, to state her credibility as a gamer in order to join the "club".

You, my friend, is what is wrong with modern gaming.

Preach! :3

Yeah, looking at the title...I thought the thread was asking for more trans representation...

..but it's somehow the exact opposite of that.

My brain...idk anymore

It is a Sunday after all...

Here's the thing I find as a straight, male, white gamer who's into redheads (even though I have dark brown hair, but that's a different tangent), I agree that Cass and Sera are a little... not pretty. Vivienne? For a video game character, she's not too shabby. Very graceful looking. But here is the amazing thing (even if this is a troll, there's enough people on the forums that think quite similar to him), video games have codes! And do you know what you can do with codes? Mod!! Make them look how you want!

Homosexual characters in games will always be controversial, especially male. Even if they're not a romance option, an openly gay character unsettles a lot of people. Sera is apparently into women but to my mind Dorian will cause a greater stir.

I think fixed orientations is a good thing, makes our companions seem like real people. Not everyone is bisexual.
