Thank you all for your kind comments ! ^_^

I'm happy to announce that my statue has now two real arms. I'll modify somehow the texture on the back (which is a real mess  ), and it should be ok for this first variant.

Enter the catatcombs... but no guarantee you will exit.

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The halfling blood on ice
And she said "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device"
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax, " said the night man,
"We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! "

Welcome to the Dungeon California.

Silent guardians of eternity... that would be a good name for a module (or a very bad movie ^_^ ).

An other variant, no face. I think this one is scarier than the other. Even the dwarf is terrorized ! (he's hiding in one of the sarcophagus).

This first statue is finished. I'll now try to make other variants I have in mind.

Two more variants of this statue. One is a waiter a plate holder interesting to make lamps, for example.

I really like the lamp version. The other could have one of the placeable swords or weapons ?

Yes, that's because I let the statue empty handed, so the builders can place whatever they want in it : weapons, scrolls...

I'll make an other variant with a sword.

If you're going to make a version holding something, consider making the hand pose for holding but not actually holding anything. We have the placeable weapons pack we can use to make it hold any weapon we want, rather than being forced to a sword or whatever you put there.

That would be cool but, as Kamal_ said, it is great as it is. Another hand pose would be good but the placeable weapons we have gives it a great deal of flexibility as it is.

Yes, that's a good idea. I think a pose like the black cloaked monk in the stock placeables would be ok.

Meanwhile, here is an other variant with a sword.

(Edit : request done ^_^ ).

An other variant I made just for fun ^_^ . It's a tribute to the Goromorg of the Legend of Grimrock.

A work in progress for the statue of a guard :

Screen 1

Screen 2

It's a nightmare to texture, but I learned a lot about the modeling of a human body. The most difficult is to respect the proportions of every parts, particulary the arms.

I think I'll change the shoulder protections, it looks too simple, even for a guard ^_^

This one will probably hold a spear or a halberd.

I like that a lot Calister. For me, I would go the other way with the shoulders and keep the protection simple or simpler.

It's your model though and you will hear no complaints from me whichever way to take it.

I'll think about it, PJ, but I'll nevertheless test some other shapes to see if something fits better...

EE : difficult but exciting world, isn't ? ^_^

Meanwhile, a solid pair of armored legs is slowly taking shape in gmax... I think I've never studied medieval armors from so close

Your original guard statue reminded me a little of the Terracotta Army.

I've seen this army two years ago, during a trip in China. A breathtaking view, particulary when you enter the huge hangar they've built to shelter the statues.

But it's not my source of inspiration. For some parts of the armor, I took example on the plate armors you can see in the Witcher 2.

This statue finally begins to take shape... still one or two things to do, though, like maybe a cloak.

Ha, I'm going to fill that depression with water and use the face placeable from your dungeon set, or a skull fountain to have water pouring into it. It will be a plunge pool roman style, perhaps the moon pool?

Either way that looks very good indeed.
