in Gamespot's DA:I showcase it appears as if Iron Bull and Sera stay behind to guard some entrance for the fem mage Quizzy and Leliana. One moment later enemies burst the door open and drop a body that looks very much like Sera.

Interesting. o.O That's definitely Sera, down to the clothes. I had never noticed that before.
Yeah it is her and all they said was that it would make sense when we play and that it all depends on previous choices you have made in the game. I actually don't think Sera is dead, just knocked out. I don't think they would show a companion death in a demo before the game was even released coz that would be a spoiler.

It gives me a bad feeling about their fate.
It's possible they're just KO'd. I'd be surprised if they made you sacrifice two companions in one go. Or maybe it's a situation where you needed to do their personal quests and stuff to get them through a major story quest and they, uhh, didn't.
They didn't talk to Sera enough and now she's dead. :'( How dare they?
Yes! I noticed that too lol the first time i saw it, i thought i just witnessed the death of the companion i was most excited to meet
See Lair of the Shadow Broker. Companion incapacitated in cutscene prior to the big fight. Is revived afterwards.

Yes because they'd show the spoilerific demise of a LI in an extremely public demo.
It seems like kind of a waste that they went out there, honestly. The Inquisitor didn't even make it anywhere before the demons busted in. They didn't seem to accomplish much.
Pretty sure they just got their asses beat, don't think they are dead.

Why wouldn't they? It would be a perfect way of showcasing how previous choices have an impact throughout your playthrough.
I'm thinking she got knocked unconscious or a sloth like demon put her to sleep. I'm guessing Dorian somehow brings her back or you end up reviving her by going in to the fade. Kind of like how you have to unlock the nightmares to save yourself and your passed out companions in the Circle quest in DA:O.
I doubt they're dead because it's a public demo. And Bioware's more likely to tease a possible death than show an actual death. And yet even if it's an actual real live death in that playthrough, it doesn't mean it's an unavoidable death for all playthroughs.
There's been a lot of theories about that. One is that they just used their models in place of some NPCs that are with you. One is that it was a fade dream. One was that this can be avoided by making different choices before this point or bringing different companions. We just don't know.
Sera was telling dirty jokes about demons and they didn't like it.
It looks like it's player-determined, at least in terms of who you send in there. I doubt Sera dies at all. Worst case scenario is you rescue her from the Fade.
My theory is that they were in the fade which wouldnt kill them in reality but if not then she's just unconscious.
I dont see why they'd kill off a major character at E3 before the games release
If it were the fade, why isn't it more beige and squiggly? lol
