So, just had a thought... What if our companions were like the ones in Origins, and had player-available specializations. So far, a majority of them fit each of the given options;

Cassandra: Templar (closest to Seeker)
Blackwall: Champion (seasoned warrior)
Iron Bull: Reaver (as seen in the Demo)

Dorian: Necromancer (has power over the undead)
Solas: Rift Mage (Rift = Fade, I assume)
Vivienne: Knight Enchanter (don't really have anything to back this up)

Varric: Artificer (Trapping enemies seems to suit Varric)
Cole: Assassin (Well... He's murdered people...)
Sera: Tempest (I see this as an angry, fast-hitting spec.)

I'd be tempted to switch Cole and Sera, as "Tempest" also sounds a lil' more... Magicy... But yeah.

Opinions? i'm hoping the Companions will be like DA:2, myself.

I think you are you right. I would rather unique specializations for companions too but it doesn't seem to be the case now. I do like that everyone only has one though, two seemed a little excessive.

That's the theory. :P  I'll add that KE is described as a circle mage thing and Vivienne is a circle mage so it would make more sense for her to be one than the other two. Also her Skill tree had a symbol on it that looked like a sword and shield.

I guess who the Tempest is would depend on what Tempest actually is, it could be some sneaky magical rogue spec that cole has. It would make sense for the inquisitor to because of the mark. Assassin would also work for cole though, so it could just be that.

If these do turn out to be their specs I hope there is some difference to their version of them and the Inquisitors.

Especially when you'd mix oddd combinations with no repercussion, like Wynne gaining Blood Mage lol

Vivienne: Knight Enchanter (don't really have anything to back this up)

Well she is called Madame de Fer ( basically Iron Lady ), she is an Enchanter and she is Orlesian ( Chevaliers, duelists anyone? )

And Cassandra is a Templar. She acknowledges that when Varric accuses Templars of being mad and she says '' We're not all like that ''.

Here we go. It's showing off the spirit tree but if you look the spirit tree actually matches the symbol to the right. I'm betting the sword and shield is KE.

That's not what was said. Varric wonder why she is asking all those questions if the Templars have left the Chantry. Varric doesn't do any distinction between Seekers and Templars. It's all the same to him and Cassandra isn't there to correct his perception.

We know from Therinfal codex that Seekers get their own special training and there isn't a single mention of Cassandra having been a member of the Templar order at some point anywhere so far. Her character kit mention she joined the Seeker order shortly after the death of her brother* and we have WoG that not all Seekers are recruited from the Templar ranks.

*She was a kid when that happened

Personally, I'm hoping each companion will have his/her own unique specialization, like in DA2. These can either be regular specializations tailored to fit the companion in question (like how Isabela had her own unique version of duelist) or something completely new (like Varric's Bianca spec).
