Simple question :

Do you have to complete ME1 (Defeat the final boss) to be able to import the save into ME2 ?

Uh I am sorry but why would you want to import a half finished save into ME2?

I was just wondering. ME2 releases soon and I don't know if I have spare time for the first one but I'm around 50% there

The story /continues/ 2 years after you left off. Yes. you need to finish ME1. The last autosave is made *just* before the credits, which is the save that will be imported into ME2.

Even if you cant complete ME1 before ME2 is released I would still suggest that you complete ME1 before you start playing ME2.

At the moment I am trying to get information on what ME1 Achievments will give you a bonus in ME2, then I will prepare a character for transfer by getting him to lvl 60 and unlocking achievments along the way. I hope to get this done before ME2 is released but I also know that my chances of pulling this off are pretty slim. If I cant get it done before the release of ME2 then my priority is still to prep my ME1 character for transfer and I will probably start playing ME2 a few days after release.

If I were you, I would just take my time with Mass Effect 1. ME2 will be there when you are done. ME2 promises to be a really killer game, but I suspect that your enjoyment of it will only be enhanced by a normal, non-rushed run on ME1 (which really is a gem of a game in it's own right).

Thats a tough job you have. That answer to that question would depend on the difficulty you are playing it on, your skill, and of course, how much caffeine you currently have! Therum isn't that hard and if you just blow through Feros you should be able to finish the game up by tonight. For estimation I beat a thorough character on Hardcore in about 32-35 hours.

Yeah you can give your Shep a facelift and change of class in ME2.

A little indication of time spent on ME1, what you can/may expect:

(last) Hardcore Vanguard, completionist runthrough (all sidequests, including collectibles): 32 hours.

(first) Normal Vanguard, completing all sidequests: 56 hours

(in between) several difficulties, different classes, non-completionist ranging from 12-30 hours.

If you have completed Therum, Feros and Noveria, you're past 50% of the game (as in main story, not counting side-quests). I always find the last 'missions' go much quicker than the ones mentioned already due to less conversations.

I'm playing a normal soldier at the moment , already visited many many planets before going to Feros and did a bunch of sidequests already including the DLC ones.

I took my time doing side quests and exploring instead of the mainquest so all there's left for me now is the mainquest and maybe a few sidequests
