A Standalone Kirkwall DLC? Or even a full fledged expansion?

Just a thought that's been running around my brain like a headless chicken.  Not quite sure what to do with it, so I thought I'd throw it out there and see what the response was.

So, returning to Kirkwall...  Originally I felt pretty sure Kirkwall would figure into the Inquisition plot somehow, considering the entire city is essentially a giant veil tear waiting to happen.  I don't really think so anymore, but the point stands about the veil.  So, I was thinking, what if investigating Kirkwall, and what's become of it after that veil presumably tears, became the subject of a standalone DLC jaunt in the vein of Legacy and Mark of the Assassin?  Or, if it was an expansion in the vein of Awakening, Kirkwall became a base through which to explore other places in the Free Marches?  (I'd actually prefer an expansion like that to focus more on Nevara, but whatever).  Perhaps it has fallen under new management in the absence of the Templars and the Viscount, or some agent of the DA:I antagonist is attempting to enact some nefarious plot.

So, how do people feel about revisiting the City of Chains?

I rather we not return to Kirkwall. I had enough of it to last five lifetimes.

I get the feeling.

I sort of want to revisit though just because I thought they were going somewhere with that thin veil thing, but they never did...

Well, I intentionally antagonized Sebastian after convincing him to retake Starkhaven. I want to see him fulfil his promise: To burn Kirkwall to the ground and end hat Place once and for all. Hell, I would totally be helping with that!

I think we have spent more than enough time in Kirkwall already. I am far more lenient to have areas from DAO come back because at least that game didn't suffer as much from using the same exact areas repeatedly.

I'd like to see Starkhaven rather than Kirkwall.

The Free Marches cities are some of the most interesting places in the setting, and I'd love to go back there to see the consequences of DA2 and Sebastian's crusade, but I've had more than enough of Kirkwall to last ten games.

Yeah let's visit somewhere else if we get the chance. Thedas is huge with lots of other interesting locations, I'd rather not go back to a city we spent an entire game in already,

No, not terribly intriguing to me. Kirkwall has appeared to have run its course for now.

I'd be more interested in something set in the Anderfels and Weisshaupt. Something's going on up there, if WoT is to be believed. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd even be interested in seeing how the Free Marches and Starkhaven are doing with Seb back there trying to reclaim his title (presumably).

I don't mind having to visit Kirkwall but please dear god don't make us live there again.

I would rather not. I did not enjoy Kirkwall for multiple reasons.

Seeing how Redcliffe castle in DAI has pretty much nothing but name in common with that rotund lil building in DAO, I fail to understand all these "Oh God oh God not Kirkwall again" comments. I for one would've liked to see Kirkwall done right. Shame it's not gonna happen.

I wouldn't mind giving the surrounding areas some more exploration. But the city itself? No.

We most likely don't have to worry about it, regardless, we're on the southwestern half of the continent.

I rather visit Nevarra or Tevinter for a DLC.

I'd love to go back to Kirkwall for a DLC set or expac. I'd like to see how it looks. I'd like to see Carver or Bethany, if they're still there. I'd like to see the "band of three" investigation come to light and find out just why Kirkwall was made into a hellmouth.  I'd like to help tear down all those awful statues lining the harbor (Seriousy, why has no one done that, yet? Dang thing's been out of Imperium hands for centuries.)  I'd like to see if the cave has changed or if they'll intentionally leave it the same for the in-joke. Most importantly, I'd like to hear Varric's commentary.

I don't want to live there forever or anything, but I'd definitely like to revisit Kirkwall.

I would hate to see the "Enigma of Kirkwall" mystery go in vain, but at the same time I'm not very prone to revisit the city.

I get the feeling Inquisition was meant to start in Kirkwall. Would have been cool if DA2 ended with a cliffhanger after the chantry incident and we had to start Inquisition with Hawke in the next game. Im not much of a DA2 fan, but for the sake of continuity it would have been a good idea.

Answering the question: sure, with new engine everything looks different so why not Kirkwall. Its a large place where the veil is thin.

Anderfels, Nevarra, Free Marches..

I'd be up for those in an expansion or two. Sure! Including Kirkwall.

Tevinter would have to be a reallly full expansion. I want it, but I think a location like that would be more proper in a full game, maybe the next one.

(In fact, a game that more fully explores Orlias - as in its city scape - and Tevinter both, and surrounding lands of Qunari relation and more... I'd take that! Open up the world with Inquisition, and properly show us city gameplay in the next game!)

But anyway, Kirkwall? Sure. If I like Inquisition, I'd buy Kirkwall in either a $10-15 DLC (if it was sizable enough), or a $20-25+ large Free Marches expansion (the higher the price, the more features and gameplay needed).

I would love an expansion set in the Free Marches. I'm not as keen on Kirkwall as I am on Starkhaven, but it would still be nice to see the city redesigned and perhaps learn what became of Hawke's companions that may have stayed behind (Aveline?)

I want to learn what became of Sebastian more than anything else at this point. I feel so led on by his dead-end "romance" plot as a rival. That was going somewhere very interesting from where I was standing, BioWare! PLEASE FINISH IT! :P

I agree with you. It does look like that was going to be the case, doesn't it? Maybe with a bridging DLC involving the start of the Mage-Templar open conflict, leading into a DA3.

Long before we might possibly revisit Kirkwall, I would prefer that we explore other areas in the immediate vicinity of the planned Inquisition environs that we've not actually gone to before: Nevarra, Weisshaupt, Kal-Sharok or something along those lines.
