Well, I'm being cautious.  The last we heard Varric mention of the trouble in Weisshaupt (during the same DLC) it seemed like the 'trouble' in question might still be on-going.  Did anyone else get that impression?  I distinctly remember him saying something along the lines of "Eh, I'm not too concerned" in reference to not having heard from Hawke in all that time.

 

I'm still going with "Yay!  Alive and safe!" but Bioware are tricksy.

 

EDIT - my Hawke was Viscount, too, but I'm sure she's happier with Varric having the title!

I never got that offer, when did it happen? I only got a offer from Sera to join the Jennies

I assumed he was doing the same thing as Sera. He gave me that giant key and there was option to tell him "Let use it now" or something like that. I felt he was inviting me to join him back in Kirkwall. I just thanked him, but I didn't try the other options.

on becoming Viscount of Kirkwall! I'm so proud of him! He gets to go back to Kirkwall and fix all the mess with Hawke by his side. I'm so happy! I'm crossing my fingers we get to see him again in the next game. I'm predicting this will be the last time he'll be a companion but that doesn't rule out the possibility of him taking on an adviser type role in the future. Until the next game says otherwise, I'm totally going to head-canon that Varric and my single Hawke finally get together at some point after trespasser (a Champion and a viscount would be an amazing power couple! ). I noticed there wasn't any mention of Bianca in the DLC unless I missed something? So I don't know if that's just Bioware being aware that she wasn't well received or it was intentional because they're saving a resolution for a future game? who knows. I just loved this DLC, so many happy endings for everyone! (Mostly everyone, my poor elf )

And the more I think about it, the more I like Kirkwall's chances. Varric is a good guy and knows how to get things done. And if he ever step out of line he's got Aveline there to set him straight again. The biggest concern is Hawke causing trouble (since Hawke is a living wrecking ball of destruction), but that's already happened and Kirkwall is still standing (kind of). As for Bianca: I hope they never even mention her again. I'm going to roll my eyes so hard if she and Varric get together for real now that he's Viscount.

 

About those happy endings: I picked Warden Blackwall and Solas for my first two Inquisitors. Things didn't end well haha.

Kirkwall is much like the Hanged Man; not so much a dive as "the dive, filled with the worst and best people in the world..."

 

I hope we get to (even briefly) go back there at some point down the line, I'm extremely fond of that city.

I like the notion of Varric as Viscount. The notion of Hawke back helping rebuild Kirkwall left me unhappy at first, as i really just want the fellow off on a boat with his Izzy. Suppose its better than him being locked up in Weisshaupt, perfectly possible to headcanon the couple back stopping off in port and helping Varric on the side.

I imagine that Izzy would just use Kirkwall as her port of choice since Hawk is there. Just think of it as Izzy going on "extended business trips" every once and a while. But she always manages to come back home.

 

As for Varric...........I really laughed by ass off at him becoming Viscount. Hilarious. Just imagine the look on Cassandra's face when she realizes she has to treat him with the respect reserved for a head of state. lol

I've a Varric related glitch. After completing the Western Approach segment of Inquisition, I return to Skyhold to find he's completely vanished. I've reloaded saves, but to no avail He's always gone upon return to Skyhold from the Western Approach. Is he somewhere else in Skyhold for some reason? Help, anyone?
