The only folks The Iron Bull has trouble with are those who go looking for fights about the Qunari. He isn’t trying to convert anybody, but he’s not going to apologize for his way of life, and people like Varric, who saw the Qunari at their worst in Kirkwall, might take that the wrong way.

IMO, this comes across less that he would reject a qunari-race inquisitor so much as he doesn't like the Qun. The Qunari inquisitor is Vashoth and doesn't follow the Qun faith, at least at the start.

Don't worry, I get so nervous whenever the topic comes up with the dev's I don't think I'd be able to be too crushed because I'm very ready for it.  This is torture though...

Yee-yup. I said this was borderline guaranteed earlier, mea culpa, but that is obviously not the case.

 

We don't know for sure who the race-gated characters are - some of them could still be the people already confirmed. We don't know for sure that Blackwall is off the table, and Solas has always had a fairly good shot at one of the slots. Let's keep a realistic look at things.

No, I agree that we shouldn't get crushed, but my hopes have risen so much since IB isn't gated...

Not gonna lie, if Varric is restricted against humans but not qunari, I'll laugh pretty much forever.

I'd actually be down for that if he must be restricted. I mean the naysayers always seem to use the "oh he's not into humans argument". But they do seem to forget that he never said anything about not being into other dwarves, elves or qunari.

We kind of switched places, didn't we? With race-gating on the table for the last two characters (not guaranteed, but possible) Varric is the most likely character to be race-gated, and Solas is the least likely. I can't blame them for getting worried.

My Back up is Iron Bull for straight romance if Varric isn't one (I'm not going to say Solas, who would replace IB becuse he's not confirmed)

 

But honestly, if Varric isn't LI, my  first play through will either be forever alone or lesbian.

I mean, neither do we but we're weird and we've never really been so sure about Varric that it's crushing. We've always kept up with he most likely won't be , and if he's not will be buddies with him ...and comfort each other here.

I know the feeling well, I was desperately infatuated with Joker back before ME3 launched.  This thread's a lot nicer than the threads back on the BSN used to be, though.

 

It's good to not get your hopes up, but there's also no sense in getting too down about it now.  Heaven forbid the worst comes to the worst, you'll have time to be sad then.

 

Enough with the downer stuff, though.  Long time lurker here, just wanted to pop in to offer some support, both in favour of a Varric romance and of the moral variety.
