Oh, next time that someone tries to bring up Until We Sleep and the events in it as fact, just remember this:

 

Finally and the most important part to me, this is a Fade Nightmare were we learn most of this.  That's not the most reliable source of information or truth, so is it that unlikely we just saw the Nightmare, and not what actually happened?  

 

So for all we know, none of that actually happened the way the comic said it did.  Shoot, we've spend two games now where we've busted either our companions or NPCs out of Fade Nightmares.  Those weren't real, so I'm not entirely inclined to believe the events of Bianca and Varric as shown in the comic actually happened that way at all.

I am pretty sure there are die hard shippers of Bianca/Varric.

They are so hard shippers that they would destroy an idea or thought of Varric being with another.

 

Sad really. I stay away from those.

That was pretty insane.  I'm wondering how they are really going to react if Varric is a LI for the player.

 

Oh... I'm scared to even look now. 

This time, I didn't back down about my Varric theories, and I have completely stopped excepting Bianca as an excuse.  Especially since the devs wouldn't need to use it to have no romance arc for Varric, which I did list.

 

Yeah, remember how I said most posters were supportive but doubtful?  Well, I finally met a person that truly hates the idea.

You're not alone.  However, Mort for example had some pretty valid points.  I didn't agree with a lot of them, but he did use the Bianca reasoning in a way that made sense.  The extremely serious Varric/Bianca shippers though...a little scary.

Yeah Bianca is also not a good enough reason anymore. It's been years. I don't think it's quite healthy to be so into someone for so long.

 

When my best friend moved away when I was 11, I named my pet turtle after her. Eventually I stopped missing her but I still adored my turtle and the name was a reminder of the good friend I had. Nowadays I honestly miss my turtle more than her.

 

So it´s okay for him to have his crossbow Bianca around but to still pine after her? That´s a bit much.

The shippers mean well, even if one of them was very rude.  So there wasn't much they could have done to really get under my skin, unless I choose to continue the argument.  Not worth it and it's apparently they aren't going to listen to PoV anymore than I'm willing to accept theirs.  By tomorrow we'll be talking about something else and put Varric on a "let's just not go there" basis between us.  

 

I still have a really good feeling about what's to come.  I do think that if nothing else, we'll probably learn at the end of the month.  I wouldn't mind it sooner and being wrong in this case.  That works too.  

 

Man, they really need to let the posters know about the last LIs and soon.  It's getting a little ugly.

Yeah, I know.  It isn't fun.  We just need to remember that the only one that can ultimately shut us up is the devs.  For now, I do recommend backing off from talking about Varric too much in the romance threads until we know about the rest of the Lis.  I know it seems a little unfair, but it's much better than getting into frustrating debates all the time.  

 

Remember: Varric fans always try to take the high road, and present ourselves with class.  Even if it's really...really...really difficult sometimes.  It's hurtful, but I think of some of the more hardcore shippers as fans that are just as passionate as we are.  We shouldn't let their passions about a video game hit us personally.  I don't think they mean it to be hurtful, but to sum up DG (can't find the exact quote atm)

So just remember that and keep hoping!  We have nothing to lose.  Romance or no, either way, we'll get our friend back.  If we look at it in a negative way, we'll just depress ourselves, and that's no good.

I think so too, only a few months till the game releases and they seem to be going reveal crazy the last few weeks...I'm so nervous though, I want to know if Varric is an LI but at the same time I don't because I'm scared of the answer. Right now, no matter what the Nay-Sayers hurl at us, we can still hold out hope and argue our points back at them. But once Bioware gives us an answer, there isn't any changing it, no arguing back, what's done is done..be it good or bad.
