Me: "What do you mean rethink? There isn't enough time to add Varric now!... oh, 2013... oh, January 2013... that WAS enough time to add Varric... I should calm down..."

That was pretty insane.  I'm wondering how they are really going to react if Varric is a LI for the player.

 

This time, I didn't back down about my Varric theories, and I have completely stopped excepting Bianca as an excuse.  Especially since the devs wouldn't need to use it to have no romance arc for Varric, which I did list.

 

Yeah, remember how I said most posters were supportive but doubtful?  Well, I finally met a person that truly hates the idea.

Was it the same guy calling me names a couple of days ago for the same argument? That guy doesn't need to be anywhere near a romance thread!

Hey guys, crashed out a little early.  Before I'm go to back to bed for a bit (not enough sleep,) a few things:

 

1) Thanks for all the love and support while I was in the romance thread, and after I went to bed.  It means a lot.

 

2) People say Cullenites are hardcore.  Every Cullenite I've personally talked to are really nice.  A Bianca/Varric shipper?  Very hardcore and very protective of their headcanon.

 

3) If you guys are even half way serious about the whole cake/cupcake thing, talk to the poster Dragonracer.  She's the one behind the Cupcakequsition, the folks that sent about 11 dozen cupcakes to the BW team in Edmonton.

 

 

Anyhow, I wanted to share something you guys.  If my idea is correct, everyone would have 3 LIs, and Varric will be bi.  Now, I still have my doubts about that, but hey, it could happen:

I really hope this is how it'll break down, because it not only keeps a nice even split, but at least every race will have one LI option.  We're definitely getting a qunari romance when DG had used the word "fetishy" once to describe the idea of romancing them.  So a dwarf would make sense.  

 

Every race would have an option, but not every gender/race combo would.  Now, there is a chance that they could make him straight and throw the numbers off, but this is my wish list.

I wouldn't mind this breakdown, but it seems like way more equality than we were told to expect.  Back before we learned about most of the romances there was that DG tweet or something about not everyone having the same amount, because romances aren't like candy... etc.

I made a joke about this once. I said "didn't you know when you introduce yourself you're supposed to say what gender you're interested in? Of course they were mad about Anders" and I said it was simple common courtesy to introduce yourself like "Hi, I'm Juliet and I find women and men attractive. It's nice to meet you! " because really, that's what some people make it seem when they're like "Anders never mentioned being attracted to men . He was straight in awakening " blah blah blah .

I don't agree with that argument. At all.

 

I'm pretty sure it gets worse. I'm married to a man but if we weren't together I would be okay with a male or female relationship. It makes people really confused if I'm gushing over a woman on a movie or something... 

 

Also, Varric doesn't talk about himself enough to make him sharing his sexuality a reasonable expectation.

Yep, my mom is convinced I'm a lesbian now... it was awkward.

 

But see, Varric loving Bianca before doesn't mean he can't love men, now! Silly people... (granted I have no idea what his sexuality is, but Mary Kirby hasn't said)

Okay, for the characters that I didn't mention:

 

Solas--First, I want to apologize to Solas fans for leaving him off of my LIs lists.  However, while the character doesn't want to be "just an elf," he's also been described as an introvert and loner.  We've been told that he's far more comfortable in the Fade than he truly is in the waking world.  While it certainly doesn't have to knock him out of the running (A Fade Dream sequence as part of a romance would be very neat for example,) I think that reduces his chances by a lot.

 

Blackwall--Again, my love and apologizes to those that want to #climbthatwall for leaving him off of my LI lists.  As a very honorable man nearing his Calling, I don't think he's going to be a LI.  I do think that flirts will be available, but I could see him easily turning down the PC.  He strikes me as too good of a person to allow the PC's heart to break over him.  A couple of months back, I stopped by the Blackwall thread to toss up a theme for him, the song "God's Gonna Cut You Down," by the late great Johnny Cash.  Sheryl Chee not only liked it, but told me it was also on her playlist of songs that reminded her of Blackwall.  I've taken that as a sign that not only do I think he'll be a "nearmance" (think Samara in ME2,) but that we might watch this honorable solider give his all and die by the end of the game.

My personal favorite was when I heard someone call pan/bisexuals "lazy."  He was saying that we were lazy because, "We don't feel like picking a side."  I thought I'd heard it all until that day.

Well, they did say they were trying to be more fair/equal with sexual orientation and not race, so the inequality part they warned about may come with race (the the race-gating) rather than gender/sexual orientation.

reminds me when someone stormed in the IB thread after his LI announcement and called him a "slutty manwhore". I said "because he's bisexual?" and they said "wat?" like... what else could you have meant, man?
