It would be really interesting if he ended up an available LI to qunari, I won't hold my breath for it, but if it happened I would definitely play it haha. I'm just thinking of how adorable the height difference could make it. I've seen some fanart of Varric with a qunari inquisitor, so I know more people feel that way too. 

 

I understand the race gating even though it's a bummer. It does open up the ability for more characters to be LI's, and characters with such different builds would be a task to get right during intimate scenes... but yeah. I feel ya. :c

I get it too, doesn't mean I'll stop complaining about it though. 

 

To be honest I've found most of the sex scenes in Bioware games to be kind of goofy so if it meant not having race gated romances, I'd gladly take just a fade to black. I'm more interested in the dialogues and the emotional intimacies of a love story than the physical aspects. 

 

You know that scene in DA2 during the Isabela romance where Isabela comforts Hawke after their mother dies? That, to me, is the sweetest most romantic and touching scene in the Isabela romance and I'd gladly sacrifice a sex scene or a big kiss for more scenes like that.

And that can be remedied by having taller races sit at a level to match Varric's. Morning after needs no explanation since the pillows are always aligned together.

 

Whether or not that is difficult to animate, I won't know. I am a seamstress, not an animator.

I can't decide what's worse about the Origin sex scenes, the dead sex faces, the underwear, the stiff movements or that strange woman serenading the Warden and their LI in the background.

 

But Isabela's comfort scene...it was so heart wrenching and sweet. I would love more scenes like that Inquisition, where you just have a heart to heart talk with your LI.

You know, does anyone have a Merrill romance save right before the love scene occurs? I want to see if I mod Varric into the scene if he'll "jump" to face level with Hawke (it occasionally happens in certain cutscenes).

Gender doesn't matter since the scene is standard for both, though it would be hysterical hearing femHawke's voice on Varric!

Varric always has double the number of likes than most characters, on Facebook at least. However, I have a gut feeling Cullen might beat his record when his profile is out.

 

I guess it's safe to assume Varric is still more popular than most characters right now, at least among those unconfirmed as LIs. Among mainstream, non-BSN fans.

Dear, I didn't notice "if" and my heart jump a bit...

I really don't think it's that far fetched to believe Varric will be an LI, even if he's race/gender gated. We know they'll be more LIs than any other DA game, so 6 seems to be the minimum number of possible LIs.
We've got two male LIs already confirmed, leaving Cole (99% sure he's not an LI), Blackwall, Solas, Iron Bull and Varric. All of them I think have reasons to both not be and to be an LI. Also, if Vivienne (like Varric, written by MK) is not an LI, which I find likely to happen as Cassandra and Sera are already confirmed, and I think there's a high chance Scribbles will also be confirmed, there's a chance she may have written Varric as an LI, because I don't think she'd write two, but probably wrote one.
Grasping at straws perhaps, but still remaining hopefull!
I seriously just want to know one way or another though! Damn you Varric, been pining for your love for too long! hahaha!

I usually bring Isabela with me for that scene, but for whatever reason I didn't that time.   I'll admit, I'm going to miss their banter in Inquisition, but I'm looking forward to Iron Bull/Blackwall/Varric conversations.  You know that's going to be awesome.

That's a cool party setup. Blackwall says honorable things. Iron Bull twists them into something dirtier. Varric ends it off with his sarcastic humour. I might try this when I get the game (Not for entire playthroughs mind you, but it will be an unexpected group to have for a while.)
