Character wise, I don't think Varric would have a problem being in a relationship with the Qunari inquisitor unless they supported the Qun. Animation wise, though, it's probable that Qunari x Dwarf would be the hardest to animate. Iron Bull is bigger than the male Qunari (who are bigger than the female qunari, it appears) so they couldn't just copy paste his animations with the male dwarf.

 

Honestly? Based on what we know about the characters, I wouldn't guess Varric would be racegated at all. If this was about attraction, well, different story. But personality? Eh, he's too much of an individual to really care what race you are. If this was real life, I'd be pointing at Cullen and Vivienne with zero hesitation. But we're dealing with programming issues, so that kinda puts us in a strange place.

Yes!  Things have picked up over the last few days.  It's really nice to see more posters sharing their thoughts about a Varric LI.  Like it or hate it, it seems that many posters really think it's going to happen.

Folks, I really hate to play the role of Ser Buzzkill of Loserdom, but it's probably still a good idea not to get too excited until we have a solid yes. We've been cautious about our chances from the very beginning, so let's not lose our cautious optimism. I don't think we're gonna get smacked down, but I'd hate to see it if we do.

I'm betting on Varric and Vivienne... Well, Varric, at least. I can't see them not making Solas a romance, for some reason. But I also don't think that Solas would be race-gated... He seems too open-minded to not fall in love with any race.

Folks, I really hate to play the role of Ser Buzzkill of Loserdom, but it's probably still a good idea not to get too excited until we have a solid yes. We've been cautious about our chances from the very beginning, so let's not lose our cautious optimism. I don't think we're gonna get smacked down, but I'd hate to see it if we do.

While I agree, I'm too tired and fed up with this whole thing.  Our emergency no LI plans are still in affect, as always.  

 

I see no harm in being very optimistic, as long as we don't forget the caution.  Still, let's look at the little bit we do know:

 

I honestly and truly believe that, at least for this character, for these fans, they wouldn't have continued to drag this out.  They know that Varricmancers have been asking for this since before DA2 came out, so we're talking a little over 3 years now.  They know that we're expecting a no, and that we look at the other remaining companions sadly.  It feels like sometimes, we're not going to have a chance against an elf.  Elf romance?  Damn near every BioWare game that has the race.  Dwarf romance?  <insert a Wait you're serious gif here>

 

Look, I may be giving the DA team too much credit here, but I really believe that if he wasn't a LI, they would have just told us such.  The Raptr Q&A would have been the perfect time to drop it all on us.  We were waiting for it, actually.  Waiting for the answer no.  I don't think they would do this just to crush us later.

 

That's why I'm going to remain upbeat.

Honestly my friend, do you really truly think that the DA team would drag this out for the Varric fans just to say no?  This is the only returning party member, who's very popular, and a highly requested LI since 2011.   We've even told the devs directly that we don't think this is going to happen.  It's not like it's a secret that we can take no for an answer.  I know BioWare can be trollish, but this would just be plain dickish at this point.

 

I'm sticking to my guns here; if Varric wasn't an LI, they would have spared us the pain and just gotten it over with.

This! We've been holding back our excitement for fear of being hurt. But forget that, we need to let our hair down for once and as Natashina put it "throw caution to the wind." I'd say we've earned it!
