I'm really not good at being a bad guy.  Even my blood mage Hawke is one of the nicest and funniest guys you'd ever meet.  Just don't make him angry.

I find it a lot harder to be a jerk if there's a jerk-path, personally. I like giving my Wardens and Hawkes complex personalities that sometimes have them act in terrible ways, but with Shepard it always felt like, "Better press the Renegade button, since I'm playing a Renegade." A lot harder to push myself in that direction.

I had one of those a few months back. I was getting ready to text one of my friends the good news before I'd realized it was a dream.

You just gotta work to craft a believable Renegade.

 

For my Shepard I chose the Colonist and Ruthless backgrounds respectively. The Ruthless works well with the Colonist considering a Colonists Shepards life was pretty much destroyed by Bartarian slavers and pirates. Its makes them killing the surrendering Batarian pirates in the Ruthless background a bit more believable. Basically my Shepard had a serious case of survivors guilt after Mindoir and vowed to never lose another person who mattered to her ever again, everyone who threatens the safety of her crew is the enemy. So she really was this big pile of crazy protective mama bear. I had a lot of fun with her....

Yeah, that's true. I'm just not good at ignoring the Paragon/Renegade points; when I feel like the game is measuring my behavior it's hard for me to act naturally, and that just gets frustrating. It's easier to play a Paragade, because that fits my behavior already.

I need to play as a Renegade. I've been male and fem shep, but never a renegade.

Probably want to hold off on renegade mass effect 3 until your hormones are stable. I played one renegade character and loved her through the first 2, but the third one you become "evil" vs "renegade" in my opinion. I cried after killing a major character and had to turn off the whole game. Never went back to that character

Yeah my Shepard ended up becoming a bit more Paragon in ME3. But it worked with my character as she ultimately could never bring herself to harm a member of her crew. Also I like to think her relationship with Garrus helped her calm down a bit.

You have a point. I haven't been the evil blood mages since I've gotten pregnant. I'd probably cry and hate myself. XD

Hope Varric is a romance option atleast for my dwarf Inqusitor. Also he has been around for a while in the dragon age series. I dont think I can pinpoint lore wise if he was not romancable but race gated I can.[Going of his past romance and DA2 comment in the Tavern]
