I won't name names but someone in the Romance thread (go figure) says Varric is "forgettable" and that both him & Cullen had a "sizable" roles in DA2.

I know this person off another forum, not a fan of hers, frankly.

Oh them?  Eh, I'm disregarding them in this case.  Some folks are just being silly and Varricmancers aren't exactly being quiet at the moment.  This is rocking a few boats and ruffling some feathers.

 

Try to look at it this way.  I've seen more general support for a Varric romance in several threads then I did prior to GaymerX.   I've seen more and more folks that have warmed up to romancing Varric.  I've even seen some that have thought about rolling up a lady dwarf if he's straight, which makes me smile.

 

Just brush off the haters, and bask in the current support from the rest of the forums.  It's the only way to go at this point, I think.

I hardly think that someone finding him "forgettable" constitutes as bashing, but I suppose YMMV.

The reasoning I heard was that some felt like the DA team was forcing Hawke to be his buddy.  It's true that he'll remain pretty loyal to you no matter what. They felt his humor was forced, his jokes unfunny and his obsession with Bianca creepy.  They also hated his narrating style, and felt annoyed when Cassandra to stop the narrative in order to get the truth from Varric.  They have also called him other names for enhancing Bethany's bust in the initial flashback.

 

I do not agree with them, but that's the reasoning I've heard in the past.  To that I say: To each their own.  Besides, most players really seem to like Varric, so I'd try not to sweat it.

I personally feel that Cullen is forgettable but I don't go around telling people that.

 

I never play mages so I never felt that connection with him at all.

I really need to rewatch A-Team.  I loved the show and the movie did a great job with the cast, so I have no issues seeing it again.

And the more I thought about it, the more appealing Varric became. If he is romanceable by my F!Dwarf I might actually bump romancing Cullen to my second game. So...yeah. Now I'm totally pulling for him.

I'm a Bisexual man, I have every intention of rolling a lady dwarf if Varric is straight. Hell I might do it even if he's bi.

Clearly she's confused. I say let her forget, leaves more Varric for us! Mwahaha aha. Years from now she will look back, tears streaming down her eyes, holding the Varric pillow and wishing she had been nicer in the past.
