Bwahahaha!  I love that gif, looks I picked the perfect time to check up on the thread.

Sooo, I've been thinking everyone....I honestly don't think I'll be able to let Varric go if we can't romance him. It'll be like DA2, I accepted it and moved on ( by romancing Anders) but I still cared about Varric more than him. And if I had been forced to choose between them, (life or death situation) it was ALWAYS going to be Varric. I feel like it'll be the same with DA3 too, if I can't romance Varric, I'll be heartbroken. My Inquizzy will try to move on but in reality her heart will always belong to him. It doesn't matter who she's romancing, Varric will always  be priority. Even if that means sacrificing my LI to keep him alive, I'll do it. :? Sorry, Cullen....

Basically my Hawke/Inquisitor:

Does anyone else feel the same, or is it just me?

*hug* Not just you, love. If Varric had been an LI in DA2, he would have easily been my main romance option.

I need to go into optimistic/pessimistic mode.

Well, if he isn't a LI, I'll be stumped with my first playthrough.  However, thankfully, Iron Bull is still an option.  I'm glad he's available, because Josie seems more like a friend for now, and I've never been attracted to guys that look like Cullen.  <shrug>

If Varric isn't available my next choice would probably be Blackwall, but I'm not too optimistic about his chances of being an LI. Maybe more of a Samara situation.

I don't mean to be a downer guys, sorry! I really do believe we'll get Varric as an LI this time around, I'm just thinking out loud. Plus, it's pretty late over here and I'm a little tired, so that might have something to do with it.

Varric's got to be an LI! Otherwise how would I choose between Solas/Blackwall and Iron Bull! I wouldn't, that's how.

I'm honestly torn between Blackwall and Varric at times, I really want Varric to be an LI because I think it could be so romantic and charming. But I think Thane was the most heartwarming and interesting romance I've seen in a Bioware game. I'd love to see more of that.

I can see the appeal of having Blackwall as an LI but coming from someone who romanced Thane as well, I wouldn't go for him. Thane's romance arc was pretty painful & even though I knew it was coming, it still broke my heart when he died. Don't think I wanna subject myself to that again. Especially, since I'm already worried we might lose a few companions to plot-death this time around. If Blackwall is going through his "Calling", I'm staying as far as I can from his romance path. :?

For my first character, I can't picture Blackwall for her.  My Qunari warrior, on the other hand, would love for Blackwall to be a romance.

I think my lady Qunari might be put off by Iron Bull's gregariousness, oddly enough.

Just his death made me cry buckets.  I couldn't ever do the romance; too many memories of friends I've lost.  :(

Oh I can definitely understand that, Thanes arc was indeed brutal, but it was also beautiful. I was kind of angry about how they handled him in ME3 after how well written it was in ME2. It seemed like they really paid no attention to the romance part in ME3. I didn't get really upset about his death until the Citadel DLC, his funeral and the scene where he appears as a ghost was really well done.

I can't bear to play a Thane-like arc :( even if Blackwall is super macho and stuff. I tend to cry buckets. I freaking cry a lot.

I still tear-up when I watch the video logs he tried to send Shepard. It's a shame it took the release of paid DLC to give him a proper send-off. The way no-one mentioned him after he died in the main game, really urked me. Not to mention the inconsistencies with his character, E.G. not wanting to die in a hospital bed. I'm really glad they explained his reasons for that in the DLC as well..

His prayer was one of the highlights of the game and so beautifully written...*sigh* I still wish we could've saved him.

I lost ALL of my favorite companions to plot-death in ME3: Thane, Mordin, Legion. I found out that you can save Mordin but at the cost of curing the Genophage.. I really wanted to keep him alive but the price for it was just too high & I could never bring myself to do it. :crying:

Theirs really no reason to save him, you never see him again regardless. Better to give him his badass heroes death.

Speaking of Mass Effect, I hope the next game diversifies the romanceable races even more. I'd like to see a Krogan LI or a Salarian, A male Quarian, a female Turian. Theirs so many things they can do other then Humans and Asari, Though those options are important to.

Well, sure but I still didn't want him to die. ^_^  Heroes death or not, I loved his character and I wanted him to carry on in the world of the living (even if I only get to talk to him through hollogram once, on the Normandy).  More-so because he is one of my only favorites that CAN be saved. I wasn't given the option to stop Legion or Thane's death but I can with Mordin. But like I said above, I'd never do it, the price is too much...

I didn't either, till very recently. Apparently there's alot of requirements that come into play though. I'm pretty sure you had to have killed Wrex and put Wreav in charge (among a few other things I can't remember).

I cried so much. Silly scientist salarian :(
I also cried when I thought I'd lost Grunt and then he burst out of that cave and I was so stupidly proud of him

Not anymore, too busy drooling at the fan art that Kath just posted.  I'm just quiet at the moment, for once.  ;)
