Yeah, but there are other reasons too why I don't want him as a LI. Bianca, racegating, Hawke to name three. 

Personally I don't think Bianca means too much against his LI status. We've had quite a few Bioware LI's who had a long lost love. It wouldn't be unusual. We also don't know for sure that he'll be gated. Especially after what happened with Iron Bull.

 

And I don't see how Hawke could factor. Remember, Aveline spent a long time with Hawke and married someone else. 

 

Anyway I respect your views but these reasons don't deter me.

Question- as we look at Varric's clothing change- he's wearing his signature necklace and has his shirt open in new pictures, but can also be seen with scarves. So do we think that this is story related to cover up, since the armor should adjust to the character's style, as they've said. Does he get more conservative? Or just cold? And if just cold, how does the armor know? Curious...

Not until now. Ugh this is one of those, "once you see it you can't un-see it" sort of things. I'll have to change the front picture when I get back or else I'll fixate on that forever.

It's possible that it's just the style of the different armor styles, but I could see them putting the scarves on in cold areas. That would be neat.

You could just photoshop it out if you wanted to. I don't have the expertise for that sort of thing, but someone here might.

Even if he gets over her it doesn't mean he going to be ready to start a new relationship. Having that quest and then kiss Virric an hour later would be a low move.

I never said I was trying to deter you. I was listing reasons I won't like a Varric romance.

The thing is, we really don't know much about the background of the Inquisitor will be at all at this point.  They haven't released the pre-created backgrounds yet, so how can you determine that so easily so quickly?   

 

I think it's too early to tell whether or not the Inquisitor would be Varric's type.  Also, he certainly would not have found a couple of my Hawkes his type at all.  I think that's pretty subjective depending upon how someone played his/her Hawke.

The first one is a personal issue with you only, if you can't get over that it's ok. Varric just isn't for you.

 

The second one is gonna be an issue with someone no matter what, Varric or otherwise. But an earlier post in this thread gave some reason why he might be gated against Qunari.

 

The third one is really just speculation, we don't even know what the Inquisitor is like.

But, there are no time leaps in DAI. Aveline had three to four years to get over Donic. I don't see it happening without a Bianca quest and a time leap.

Also, Varrics been shown dating a few times, so it's not like he's completely hung up on Bianca. In the Until We Sleep series theirs even some evidence that he's not in love with her anymore.

I sure just because someone doesn't want kiss you cause you're dwarf does not make them racist. It just makes them picky.

It's not so much who the Inquisitors were but more who they will become. When has Varric ever wanted to be the center of something rather than just more of an observer?  With Hawke, they at least tried that but the world had different plans while the Inquisitor will be the head of an organization that will be in everyone's radar and possibly crosshairs.

See, I'm already uneasy with how he is going to be judging Iron Bull for something he didn't do and is only connected by affiliation. If that extends to all Qunari including our Vashoth Inquisitor, then sorry to say but Varric is a racist. I don't like racists.

There's no time gaps like in DA2, so I don't see how.

i'm sure if you watched a group of people destroy your home, you'd have a problem with them as well. I highly doubt Varric will have an issue with the Vashoth though. they've never been a part of the Qun.

He's been tricked by the Fade before, and know she is dead/not his (I'm guessing). I don't think killing a demon Bianca means he is over her. If anything it strengthened the bond.

Why does he need to get over her to fall in love with someone else ? When someone you love deeply dies you probably never get over that. But it doesn't mean you can't love someone else. Look at Thane for an example of this.

I wouldn't hate someone who wasn't there. 

 

Um, with the race-gate reasons being "story-related", why else wouldn't he romance a Vashoth Inquisitor? And things like "He's just not attracted to them" are not story reasons.

If I was Varric I'd never get rid of that crossbow, over Bianca or not. That thing is to special to not use it.
