I wouldn't hate someone who wasn't there. 

 

Um, with the race-gate reasons being "story-related", why else wouldn't he romance a Vashoth Inquisitor? And things like "He's just not attracted to them" are not story reasons. 

Well why are you attacking Varric in particular for this reason ? You could look at any LI who might be gated and just say they're racists for not wanting to date a certain race. This is supposed to be a place for Varric fan to come and express their love of the character like all the other threads. It's not a place for argument, If that's what you want go to the Romance thread.

If I was Varric I'd never get rid of that crossbow, over Bianca or not. That thing is to special to not use it.

Yes, it is a good tool. But, Varric doesn't see it as a tool he sees it as a person. As a player we see it as the most OP bow in the game. But, Varric sees that bow as Bianca. As long as that bow is around a romance is not in the cards.

I'm not. I find the whole race-gating system stupid. I just don't want it especially for Varric because it goes against his character too much for my tastes. 

 

I love Varric and I don't want the race-gating romance to change that.

It helps that it's a developer created thread.  Allan's great at clean up as well as participating in the discussions.  He's can also be good at defusing a situation.  Since I would consider that one of the most heavily moderated threads (given it's creator being a dev,) that's where a lot of those debates end up.  

 

I'm also very curious to see just how big that thread is going to get before release.

Closure is not seeing someone and taking it out. Closure is being able to tell yourself you're okay and let go. Varric has told himself that he is okay, but he hasn't let go.

How do we know it's just blatant racism though ? It could be like a mild case of PTSD. Where he simply can't be attracted to someone of that race.

Thank you. I read it and there is interesting points up there that makes me more hopeful above my doubts, just barely though haha (until it is confirmed or rejected anyway).

 

Naysayers? Well, I do not mind if others have an opinion about it, but to come in without good rebuttal arguments for everything that has been pointed out....That is honestly a waste of time and I would rather not have this thread turned into an angry-arguing romance thread. That has already been made so take it there, haha.

 

And racism is stupid...

I cannot imagine Varric having complete hate/malice over a race, if not just being wary and closed off to them (who knows, he might warm up to the person). Like the Qunari because of the Kirkwall incident, who knows.

You don't need to be 100% behind it, but you're calling the character racist when we don't even really know how he'll react to a Vashoth quizzy or The Iron Bull other then intial impression. Let's just cool our jets and see what happens.

May we all please just drop the subject for the time being then?  We can worry about this and talk later if the time comes.  Varric doesn't have to automatically be race-gated.  We might be assuming too much, so it's best that we leave that subject be for now.

No, I was saying I would see him as such if the reason he was race-gated against Qunari was because of what the Arishok did. That's it.
