Have they said Jo's not gated?
I need to come u[ with a play for her. And Cass. And each race/class combo at least once.
Yes, they have. Sylvia confirmed it in the interview.

I'll be going for Iron Bull or Sera if it's not Varric.
I think Sir Blackwall is very attractive but we already have a male human warrior LI (Cullen) and I'd rather have more variety..
Solas isn't really my bag from what I've seen but that could change when the game comes out. I wasn't interested in Isabela pre-DA2 but she ended up being my favorite LI in that game so you never really know. That said I absolutely love the folks in the Solas thread so I'll do my best to be happy for them.
I'm hoping for Blackwall because of that beard, that height, and probably that body. ![]()
That and I'm a sucker for a tragic romance.
I wonder how the events of DA2 affected Varric, will he a bit wiser or weary of all of the conflict that's across Theadas. Will he feel guilty for what happened to the Red Templars?
I think we're going to see a more unhappy Varric. The way the interviews with Patrick have been phrased it sounds like he's stuck in the middle of things he never wanted to be apart of.
I actually kind of like coming into it naturally, and seeing how things develop. I was pretty much avoiding spoilers until Gaider announced that racegates were a thing and that not all races would have the same number of LIs. Then I panicked and had to know everything, natch.
I really...really...really hope they announce the rate-gated options at the same time as the last LIs. Some of the debates about race-gating have been as bad if not worse lately than who's the last two LIs. The romance thread...tis a scary place sometimes. ![]()
Looking at the race-gating thread though, it seems like a lot of folks aren't big fans of the idea. I'm against it, but I've made my peace with it and I'm curious to see exactly how the DA team is going to use that in a story.

I feel like I've had my fill of tragic romance for several years after Anders, but they do seem to love having at least one of those in every game. xD
Wow, you romanced Alistair and then let Loghain live ? I gotta give you credit, I've never had the heart to not kill Loghain if I was even friendly with Alistair.
Me? I always killed Loghain all the time.

Yeah, better to get that over with. I actually find the idea of racegates potentially interesting. It's just the numbers that worry me a bit, and we're mostly past the problem areas at this point. I don't mind my qunari having two options and my human having three, but I would be seriously irritated if humans got two and qunari only got one (just for example). I played that game in DAO, and it sucked then too.

First romance I've done where it was so tragic that it really affected not just the plot of the game, but the entire world it was based in. Also, the first time where my lover intentionally got a bunch of people killed. Seriously, how are they going to top that one for tragedy?
Me? I always killed Loghain all the time.
I've never let Loghain live, either... he just makes me so mad, and I really don't think I could go through a scene of Alistair suddenly feeling betrayed by me. :s Even if it wasn't for that, I just really can't stand the guy. I know a lot of people defend him for a number of reasons, but I've never been able to see it that way.
I think a skilled writer can make the race-gating interesting, but I find it so much more interesting to romance an incongruous couple.

He is a fine piece of Warden I'll give him that. ![]()
I just can't do tragic romances in my RPGs. I want my fairy tale ending. I've never been able to romance Thane either. I'm a total crybaby.

The LI is actually a spy for the bad guys and the romance was just to get close to you while their masters continued to destroy the world.

I'll save Loghain for in-character reasons (I sometimes play jerks) but yeah, never been able to really like him as a person, never quite understood people who defend him. I feel like "He worked with slavers!" is all the excuse I need to kill the guy.

I really see no way unless one of the LI's ends up as the big bad or siding with them. ![]()
Edit: Sasha beat me to it. ![]()

I went with Thane in ME and then Anders in DA2. I knew what I was getting into with Thane, but I kinda felt tricked with Anders. Who the hell would've thought he'd turn into a terrorist ?

Take it from someone that was there: It sucked 15 years ago. You have half elf, winged elf, or drow as a guy. Women got...Amoen. I rolled up an orc to play as a guy...romance denied. Dwarf? That's still the cause of laughter in my mind. A mocking sound, coupled with "You must gather your party before venturing forth."
Also, I guess I would be a little annoyed that my Cadash would have to settle for another member outside of her race. I'm far more interested in LGBT options, but the lack of dwarven romances has gotten stale. I don't want the LGBT community to get less options. Shoot, I am a member of that community and so are a lot of the people I chat with on the forums.
However, I'd love to see a gay dwarven character down the road. Or a straight/bi female dwarf. Not just for the LI, but to actually see a female dwarf companion. Another sad but true fact: Sigrun was BioWare's first and only female dwarven party member to date. ![]()

Hehe, that one seems too obvious. While NWN2 is done by BW, they did help with the project. Bishop ditching me right as the King of Shadows showed up pretty much depleted my outrage over a potential (with mods restoring the intended) romance pulling that crap. ![]()

I did, actually. When I was doing his Act 3 quest I was like "These minerals for his potion sound awfully familiar to the materials used to make explosives, and why does he want me to help him sneak into the Chantry...oh."

The break up was a little hard to watch.
Warden: I just don't want this to come between us.
Alistair: Us? There is no "us."
I typically let Loghain live if my warden is male and therefore not sleeping with Alistair. The Dalish lady was the first and only time I'd done it with a female in a romance with Alistair. I'm trying to do it again when my Cousland is romancing Zevran and plans to marry Alistair. I hear Alistair's first act as king is an execution, but for some reason it came down to one or the other.
I think a skilled writer can make the race-gating interesting, but I find it so much more interesting to romance an incongruous couple.
I think both make sense, though. It's one of the reasons I'd rather Varric wasn't racegated, since he's always seemed like someone who wouldn't particularly care what race a person is. But I think sometimes racegates can serve the character. Just for example, I wouldn't buy Sebastian romancing a Dalish unless she became Andrastean, and I'm not sure a romance arc based on "convert or get dumped" would be a good idea.

Shale says hi.

With any luck, Dagna will play a fairly important role. I'd say that's a start.

Shale was a dwarf, but I don't think she considers herself one as a golem.
Though...wasn't she traveling on quest to look for a way to regain her mortal fleshly form?

I just find his entire demeanor totally ruined by scorn and hatred so strong it has turned him to a point of no return. I know he used to be a good guy, but he fell off the deep end. I don't know if that makes me a hypocrite for loving Isabela (who has a past with slavers) or Anders (for obvious reasons), but he's just so spiteful and cruel. I will admit I always feel horrible during the scene where Anora is covered in his blood sobbing after his death. I guess that's a sign I'm at least somewhat empathetic, because I really didn't like Anora much at all, either. ![]()
Shale says hi.
Shale isn't..exactly traditional though. She is of dwarven ancestry, but she doesn't identify as a dwarf. She recognizes her past, but she identifies as a golem and has (for now) the body of such. So, I think of her much more of a golem with feminine qualities, not so much as a female dwarf.

I love Loghain.I just like beheading him more.
