Someone in the Solas thread had a theory that during Comic-Con Bioware will tweet who one of the 4 non-LI's are each day. Starting with Cole and Leliana then moving to the unannounced Non-LI's. I don't much care for this idea. Seems like it would put the entire forum on edge.

I doubt it. If anything they'll just announce the two remaining LI's and be done with it.

I kinda prefer they announce the positive (this person is an LI!) rather than the negative (this person isn't an LI) and I think Bioware would as well (companies don't like drawing attention to features that aren't in the game) but it would be rather thrilling if they announced it that way, wouldn't it?

I laughed but realized that I no longer ship him with Hawke... Especially now that they aren't traveling together and Varric is part of the Inquisition... No, Varric and Hawke wouldn't work, I can't even read Varric/Hawke fanfiction anymore!

I think it sounds like a fun idea though I doubt they'd do it like that.

I was sad I couldn't romance him in DA2, but in hindsight I'm glad that wasn't the case, just like I'm glad that Garrus wasn't romanceable in DA2. However, Varric's not going to be filling the same roll he did in DA2, he's not necessarily going to be your best bro, and I think his potential relationship with the Inquisitor is flexible enough for a romance.

That's a pretty silly reason for not wanting Varric as LI, it's an even worse case of head canon than the Bianca argument imho. At least we know that Bianca and Varric have a history, with Hawke it's kind of obvious that they have a platonic relationship.
