I'm thinking they're saving the race-restricted romances for last, and that's why we haven't heard anything about Varric (or an official word on the Bull). I think Scribbles, Cullen, Cassandra, Sera, and Dorian were all confirmed because they aren't race-gated.
(At least, that's what I'm holding my hope spot out on)
They back peddalled and changed it to any other DA game..
But, I think they at first might have been including Mass Effect because they hadn't taken SWTOR into consideration I believe.

Oof, that's harsh..on Valentines day no less? I remember when I played DA2 and found out he wasn't romanceable..it was even worse because my friend told me he WAS an LI. I spent a good portion of the game flirting w/him only to be completely heartbroken..
OMG me too... my husband was soooo confused until he played the game and was like, yeah.... that's the best character.

The devs also specifically said that Morrigan is not a love interest this game... sooooo they seem to be rapidly saying no on everyone who isn't a love interest... as others have speculated, the lack of a no is leading me to have hope again for Varric!

* There's 8 romances.
* Only 2 of those have any racial preferences (for story reasons) - Cameron Lee"
