I dont know, i can see Varric writing song parodies.

Yeah, song parodies are definitely right up Varric's alley. He would have totally spammed the internet with Let It Go parodies once he figured out they were viewcount goldmines . 

 

 

If Varric does turn out to be an LI (hopefully a Bisexual one) does anyone have any ideas how the Bianca thing will be handled? I imagine they would have to address it some how I'm just not sure how.

You know... it's been 10+ years (assuming she left immediately before Hawke came, I'm not quite sure what the exact timeline is) there's always the chance that she's moved on... married... had kids of her own. It could be that their breakup had a greater impact on Varric because from the sound of things he pretty much chose to shut himself in a cage for the sake of his family, while she's had all this time to explore herself and find out who she wanted to be. Basically her environment would have been much more conducive to moving on than Varric's.

Could be she's built a life elsewhere and they part amicably. Could be she's with the carta and they end up enemies. Could be she comes down with the taint and Varric has to mercy-kill her. (Welcome to Thedas, kiddies!) Plenty of ways that could go down.

My opinion? The Bianca subplot has already been built up across one game and one comic book series. There's very little chance it'll just get swept under the rug. If I had to guess I'd say she's a fairly major NPC in a fairly major subplot. How that'll work out with her relationship with Varric? Hard to say. Could be she's built a life elsewhere and they part amicably. Could be she's with the carta and they end up enemies. Could be she comes down with the taint and Varric has to mercy-kill her. (Welcome to Thedas, kiddies!) Plenty of ways that could go down.

Oh I hope not. Dead ex-lover syndrome is a very serious condition, I don't want to have to end up mercy killing Varric as well

I don't think they'll go that route, and I hope they don't. I just wanted to point out that there's a pretty wide range of possibilities.

 

Though it's possible I play DA too much. When that tweet came around implying Bianca was alive, my first thought was, "Oh hell. I hope Varric doesn't have to mercy-kill her." Because Thedas. And then I went onto the forum and people were going, "Bianca's alive! She and Varric are going to live happily ever after! There is no other possible ending!" I don't understand people, to be honest.

Wait wait wait...I got it...we've never seen any physical evidence of Bianca. Only a Fade Nightmare....sometimes in dreams or nightmares your desires/fears/hopes can take on an actual personified form. What if the Bianca we saw in the dream was just a manifestation of Varric's desire for freedom from the guild? That's all she's talking about with him, running away from the Guild. When he rejects her he's rejecting the idea of abandoning his duty to his family. The "I loved you line" refers to the desire to live how he wants to but knowing that he couldn't.

Now I'm dying for a scene in the game in which Varric reads his book to the Inquisitor. I want to know what sort of juicy stuff he's got written in those novels.

 

 

I'd love this, especially if his romance goes differently depending on the race/gender. Since I'm planning on playing a female dwarf rogue I'll definitely be able to live if he's in some way gated. How do you think his reactions to a romance would change depending on the Inquisitor's race/gender?

 

That was the point Chaos.   

 

Race wise, I think Dwarf would be the easiest, followed by Human and Elf as an in-between and a Qunari would be the most challenging one as you would have to convince him that your nothing like those he encountered in Kirkwall, and he might be slightly passive aggressive towards you at first.

 

Gender wise I don't know, personally I think he might be more unsure about romancing a male Quizzy than a female one as it may be uncharted territory for him, although it all depends on the writers (DG)  and devs.

They're absolutely meant to be together. I mean think of how much of DA2 and the comics have been devoted to fleshing out their long and tragic romance! They're the most iconic couple of all time. Think of the scenes they've shared together!

 

Okay seriously I'm a shipper, not gonna lie. I have ships. Varric/Bianca is not one of them, and no it is not because I want Varric as an LI. It's because the two of them have never actually been on screen together, Varric never truly speaks of her and we have never witnessed even one single conversation between the two of them. A dream sequence does not count for much in my opinion. If you want to ship it fine, but I don't get why people put this particular ship up on such a high pedestal when we've been given nothing for it so far.

Personally, I never thought Bianca was still alive until recently. I always thought that he named his crossbow after an old lover, "the one who got away". And that Varric still dreamed of her in a hunting way- like Mal from Inception.

I would say since its been to long that he has to have moved on by now (seriously Varric buddy this is not healthy for  you) BUT it isn't like Bioware hasn't done characters that hold out for someone forever even if they aren't interested though those characters are usually hung up on the PC and not an NPC. So it wouldn't surprised me if he was still hung up on Bianca though I do hope that isn't the case LI or not.

I go back and forth about whether I'm a die-hard romantic or not a romantic at all, and it's mostly because of how other people see romance. I think love is great, and it's difficult, and it's partly great because it's difficult and yet so very, very worth it. Some people think love is great, and it's all swooning and gentle kisses and always thinking exactly like your partner. I think the Varric/Bianca romance has mostly been quiet longing and not much actual substance, and if you're part of the second group that's pretty much perfect. Not so much for me.

 

Edit: This post might be kind of dickish. I still think it's true.
