Yeah, warrior is my least favorite as well. This time I'm planning to have my first character be a mage for story reasons. I like stirring up drama and seeing who bites. And this setting will be perfect to do that as a mage. xP
This is why I'm going Mage as well, I want to see peoples reactions to an Inquisitor who is not only a mage but the same race as most of the Qunari,

I've always liked playing warriors to channel my need for a good hack-and-lash. Rogues have always been a good second choice because I never had to rely on anyone else to open doors for me, but they aren't very good at taking hits. Sadly, I struggle to finish mages play through- they have such cool powers but stand so far away from the heat of battle I feel bored.
Being that I love playing dwarves above all else, I always feel it's right to give them an axe and cut their enemies down >: 3

Depends on the gating. If he's dwarf female only, then he'll obviously be one of the least popular choices. If ungated, he may very well be one of the top picks. It's hard to tell before we know anything.

Comic book artists have never been known for anatomical accuracy, I suspect that going for a youthful dwarf look (this is supposed to be Varric in his 20's if I recall correctly) ended up looking a little more human than it was meant to, but any adjustments ended up looking weird so they kept it. To be fair his shoulders are proportionally much broader compared to his height than usual and at least he's more passable than say... Kili. I guess dwarves are so often portrayed as old or middle aged guys that the media has some difficulty portraying them when they're younger.

"Bianca" (or the spirit posing as her) also had weirdly humanlike proportions in that one panel. Not that I minded much, since it made her more pleasing to look at.

If the Bianca situation resolves itself without Carth syndrome, then I think he'll be really popular. He's a very well liked character by both hardcore fans and casuals. And he has already had a whole game to establish himself as Thedas most loyal guy. And, he's really good looking!

So true... I would have gladly traded in Sebastian altogether for just a DLC where we could've romanced Varric instead. xP
I kinda like Sebastian in away, in was nice to have a religious perspective in the group, considering how much of an impact religion has on the people of Thedas. Without him everyone could have been assumed to be pretty safely agnostic, and even the Templar's wife, Aveline, showed some pretty anti-religious tendencies.

Cheers, I'm positive that Varric will always be popular no matter what he really is pretty damn awesome, but to be fair to the other characters, the facebook fanbase isn't as hardcore as the fanbase on BSN. They don't know these new companions like we do, but they do know Varric. Creates a bit of a bias, the may end up adoring some of the other companions once they get to know them . Not that I don't suspect that Varric will remain a very popular character even after the game releases, his brand of awesome isn't easily overshadowed.

It's a big turn of if your LI keeps talking about his lost love, how perfect she was and compare you to her. Not to mention that Bioware have done this a bunch of times already. I'm not expecting Carth syndrome, but I know that there are those who don't want Varric as a LI based on it.
Hard to say, but I think he may rival Cullen for top pick for females. I think Dorian will be the most popular for male PC's, but I do think that Varric will be more popular than Iron Bull. I don't know this is just pure speculation.
