It's a big turn of if your LI keeps talking about his lost love, how perfect she was and compare you to her. Not to mention that Bioware have done this a bunch of times already. I'm not expecting Carth syndrome, but I know that there are those who don't want Varric as a LI based on it.

 

Hard to say, but I think he may rival Cullen for top pick for females. I think Dorian will be the most popular for male PC's, but I do think that Varric will be more popular than Iron Bull. I don't know this is just pure speculation.

Cheers, has Carth syndrome affected a character's popularity in the past? I mean Thane was pretty popular and he suffered from a rather serious case of it.

I don't know, but I think that we're reaching the point where some are getting really tired of that specific plot. But tbh, I think it's something that mostly affect the hardcore base. And we're not exactly a majority

Well... seeing an attractive person has been known to increase saliva production (kinda like smelling yummy food) which of course would lead to an increase in the rate of swallowing... so I guess it's kinda accurate.

I didn't play the earlier Bioware games, but I did play the Mass Effect games.  I suspect Blackwall would be a very Thane like romance if he makes the LI list.  I've been kind of outspoken against him as an option because of that.  Varric would be a much more pleasant option!

Yeah Blackwall is a tough character, I mean I can understand his appeal big time, but I personally couldn't put up with the angst. Thane was enough for me .

I wouldn't count that as English trouble, I'd count that as a brain fart I've seen fluent English speakers say things like "I totally read that as X" all the time. I've done stuff like that myself in fact.

While I liked Thane a lot (it was all very sad and moving) I agree. Gimme something new! Something FRESH! Something like a suave dwarf with chest hair and a passion for storytelling!

Just had the best idea: Someone with the knowledge to do so make a Varric fanvid using the song from the lego movie and fanarts from the varricmancer community, all credited accordingly. PM me with the YouTube link and I'll use it in the celebratory/consolation banner when we hear the news.

If such a thing is done I think it would be best if it was unveiled at the announcement to preserve the impact.

Hello again! I've been so busy today that I missed everyone!

So, I was trying to work on a comic for this weeks prompt, and drew for a while last night, but then I looked at other fan art next to mine and said **** it I'll just do another story

A fanvid sounds like an awesome idea, I just can't for the life of me figure out why I get flagged everytime I try to post one on youtube. Like you said, they're a very popular medium.

Hmm so either Varric has a lot of chest hair in just one spot of his chest or he was exaggerating about that in DA2 he looks a lot less hairy in that picture to me (actually reminds me of when my dad started to shave his chest only seems Varric missed a spot)

I do believe that particular picture was from Varric memories, I'm pretty sure that's a younger less hairy version of him. Unexaggerated DAI Varric certainly seems to live up to his DA2 claims.

Well, technically speaking, that's not Varric in the flesh, but rather a mental representation of himself. So maybe in the Fade, Varric has less chest hair and better muscle tone.
