Well I guess that makes sense, almost everyone who likes Cullen also wants to romance him. While Varric is like Garrus in the sense that he's just a popular character.

I dunno... I'm a regular lurker of this thread and it seems like a majority of it is talking about Varric as a target of romance. Mostly lustful or romantic themed images or comics are posted about Varric.
I love Varric, but not in that way. It is hard to find an opportunity to jump into the conversation.
To be fair, it's easy to speculate about romances. You don't really need a lot of plot specifics in order to guess if a character will be a romance or not.

Did a sitewide search, and the oldest one mentioning "Varricmancers" is from the old thread. Don't know if it is the origination, but it's the oldest one that shows up when searched.

A great case-in-point is Maevaris' "dream". She outright admitted she knew it was all fake, but she was willing to stay because she wanted to believe in it. The fade always seems to choose what will be most psychologically paralyzing for you. Either your greatest desires realized or your worst fears. Whatever it takes to keep you there.

This brings the big questions: Who are we? Where did we come from? Why are we here? What is the true meaning of Chest-hair? The Varric-mancers demand answers! 
Do you honestly believe that he would be clueless? He's got a huge network, works with the Carta and merchants guild on a daily basis. Of all your companions in DA2, Varric is the one who's most informed.

Tis true. Varric is very much like Garrus in that he's basically everyone's bro. I've never met someone who doesn't like like either character.
And also like Garrus, I've wanted to persue a romance with Varric since the first game he's in. I see that it might he hard to jump into a convo if a person is not a Varricmancer but really just jump in and we will discuss.

Wouldn't mind seeing Varric and Bianca together, but I'd rather it be like if Aveline were a LI, you can set them up, keep them apart, or romance him yourself.

Yeah. I trust the BioWare team to handle things well, but I really want Bianca to be a character first, Varric's romantic partner second. Doesn't matter which way the plot goes, if they can't get that part right, it's not going to be worth playing.
I figured you'd be into the romance by then, and could opt to keep it going or end it. Most DA romances have a similar point.
That could work. I'd kind of rather Varric made the choice to stay with you, though, since I'm picturing a conversation of, "Well, Inquisitor, should I go back to my girlfriend?" and I can't see any way to do it that wouldn't just be horribly awkward. But yeah, maybe if Bianca showed up late in the game, and he decided to break it off with her dependent on whether he was with you at the time? Or something? I dunno, I'll admit it still kind of sets my teeth on edge.
Just did Varric's companion quest and I have a question for y'all. Did you kill or spare Bartrand? I had Anders heal him and it felt wrong for my Hawke to kill him after that...I still don't like either choice myself.
