If I'm being honest I don't really understand why so many people like the qunari.

Call me shallow but I love their designs. That's the main reason why I want to play one.

I have a morbid interest in seeing how it'll play off since most of the people of thedas hate the qunari, and that would even include the actual qun members since we aren't a part of the religion. However, I find them as a people largely over rated, and like yourself I will probably play that race much later on then the others.

 Really? They are just so interesting and different I want to play one soon. My playthroughs will go as follows: Dwarf, Qunari, Elf and Human. Humans are just so boring to me, there's never anything really that interesting. And Elves are really nifty but I'm way to excited to play a badass with horns. 

 

Nope! I hate the Qun. Honestly, part of the reason I wanted to play a qunari mage is because of what a major bullet they dodged, which gives pathos, which I like. The fact that they're leading the Inquisition is pretty much the biggest f*** you they could give the Qun. I'm actually a little worried Ash will straight-up kill Iron Bull when the two of them meet.

 

I find the Qun /kinda/ interesting. Don't think I'd follow it but all we've ever seen of it is the strong arm/military part of the order and I'd like to see what a normal Qunari is like, farmers and merchants and artisans. Tallis mentions that they are a good people and I think it's worth finding out.

I'm willing to give them a chance, but their general philosophy rubs me the wrong way on a lot of levels. We'll see how things go.

 

Also, this is partly a character thing. If Ash had been born in Seheron he'd be in a cage with his mouth sewn shut, and he's very aware of that. I have another character (also a mage, go figure) who will probably find Iron Bull fascinating and probably romance the guy.

I think the Qunari are interesting and look cool, but I'm just not so excited to play one. They just don't grab me as of right now. : )

I have no doubt that there are good things about the Qun, but much how I hate that my country tries to force democracy on other countries through military force...I don't think the Qun have the right to force their way of life on the rest of the game world either.  Meh, but that is a bit off topic, and I do loath politics...

As of two weeks ago, I was optimistic, but cautiously optimistic. Then I joined this thread and we got a bunch of fantastic news. Now I'm emotionally involved, it's a little alarming.
