is that for real? If so lolz! (mind you I always have my companions maxed one way or the other by that late in the game)

*backs away slowly*
Yesss, we know what you mean... tell you what, I'll just leave quietly, and you don't hurt me. Deal?
It's funny in the same way that It's always sunny in Piladelphia is funny. You know it's bad and you should feel bad, but for some reason the insanity make it hilarious.

Oh yeah, absolutely.
Let that be a lesson to the people who ship those two...(and I've seen it)
They HATE each other.

Still Anders' worst moment. People thought blowing up the Chantry was bad? Nah, I can deal with that. But agreeing with giving someone away as a slave? That don't fly with me. And doesn't that go against everything that Justice should stand for?

Justice had slipped into "with us or against us" mode at that point. Fenris supported the enslavement of mages, so it was "justice" for him to be enslaved in turn.
It's the sort of crazy spirit logic that results in the engineering of massacres and such.

I think its always somewhat implied that Anders isnt against what goes on in the Tevinter Imperium aside from blood magic.
I dont think that means he's a good person, but i think its a good addition to the character.

The game did kinda send mixed messages by making hatesex a thing... but yeah, the only thing Anders and Fenris ever agree on is that Merril is an idiot.

I think he doesn't believe that it's as bad as Fenris makes it out to be, he's kinda in denial. You get the impression that the Tevinter Imperium's always been that one beacon of hope for him as a mage with no political power living in a world that hates him.

Some people are attracted to each other, and it makes their interactions intense, so when they disagree they really disagree. Unfortunately, a lot of fanficcers take that idea and go, "Those two characters hate each other for completely understandable reasons! Obviously they wanna bang!"
Yeah, for me it was Anders' most out of character moment. But since he only reacts when you suggest it and not when you actually go through with it (I'm pretty sure most other characters do it twice?), I try to think of it as a really badly timed joke.
Well, he still gets approval for it, so it's a little hard to argue that.

It's interesting, in DAA, Justice will approve of you killing a talking darkspawn, even though the guy hadn't necessarily done anything wrong. (He'd been working for the Mother, but it was pretty clear he wanted to get out of dodge.) I don't think Justice was ever half as unbiased as he liked to think, his human hosts always skewed his judgment pretty terribly.

Huh, I never thought about it as that. Well, if that's case then it's not that much worse than some of the things snarky Hawke get away with. But still, it's the +5 friendship that ruin it. Don't get me wrong, I actually really like Anders, he's one of my favorites. But still, that's a douche move.
I play female characters sometimes, but it's a lot harder for me to lose myself in the character. Generally I only do it when I have a specific story I want to tell. So I know how you feel.
I am a cis-gendered female who enjoys playing ladies very much in games. I will play a dude but I'm picky- Like I had a really hard time getting through mass effect as man!shep because the voice acting paled in comparison to Jennifer Hale (all bow down to Hale). But I did it eventually because I wanted to romance Jack in ME2.
I'm currently enjoying my play through of DA2 as Hawke, the Bearded Wonder:
This voice actor was much better :3

I don't think that was out of character for Anders. He really hates Fenris.

yeaaaahhh. i like to think it was more justice than anders that blew up the chantry. There's even a moment (if you romanced him) when he's trying to tell you that something's gonna happen but then Justice takes hold and says something like "he's mine, you can't change his mind". but being ok with slavery? I got not excuse for that.

I always liked diplomatic Hawke better as a man, but I preferred snarky Hawke as a woman, I liked both equally as aggressive so it was really a toss up which gender I picked for a give playthrough.
All my guy friends played as femshep because of the voice acting. For some reason all the guys in my friend group always picked Thane, and all the girls always picked Garrus, funny that.

I usually go for friendship with him, and then it's pretty clear that he's just as responsible. Doesn't really matter, my Hawkes are often more upset over him lying than the deed itself. And then they walk of into the sunset, killing templars and making babies. Or more likely, getting hunted and killed within the first 5 minutes of DAI...

That's true for my friends as well!

I think it's mostly a friendship/rivalry thing. Justice is always on board with the plan, so if you encourage Anders he decides to go along with it, whereas if you argue with him and force him to think about it, he starts having second thoughts... which is when Justice takes over.
This thread had some good stuff today. LOL!

Well, now. Edit: Y'know what, never mind. This didn't need to be brought up again.
So, we brought up Fenris/Anders shipping, and we've mentioned shipping DAI companions before. Anyone here ship Varric with a different companion? Just curious.
Finally I can see again! Did I miss any news while I was gone?
I had to double check to make sure what thread I was in. Strange Varric talk today (or lack thereof actually). ![]()
