Hey, was wondering what those questionnaire/template things are called? Was going/trying to look up something that had a few "What would your Inquisitor do?" type things that was centered around Varric. Are those memes? :/ I'm not even sure I know what I'm talking about. I'm so out of the loop nowadays it's not even funny.

 

Memes, yeah. There's probably a more specific word for them, but I don't know what it is.

Hmm... How about quotes from other tv shows/movies that we could see Varric saying (much like the "too old for this" in DA2... Or just would be funny in this voice)

My dad bears an uncanny resemblance to Harrison Ford, so I can't enjoy that as much as I probably would otherwise. Also a really good line, though. Varric could knock that out of the park.

I understand where you're coming from. I'm in a similar boat with my dad and Robert Redford. Nothing like having someone compare your parent to a sexy actor/actress to ruin them for you forever.

I understand where you're coming from. I'm in a similar boat with my dad and Robert Redford. Nothing like having someone compare your parent to a sexy actor/actress to ruin them for you forever. 

 

Never had a parent ruin it but my cousin did ruin my middleschool/highschool crush on Jonny Depp/Jack Sparrow by cosplaying him and being freakishly identical in speech and behavior. Forever ruined he found out about it too and has joked about making it his mission to cosplay and ruin all my favorite characters that way.

Ash Adaar, male qunari mage

About as tall and muscular as your typical qunari, of course. Has ridiculously long hair (if the character creator will let me, which of course it won't) and a scruffy goatee. Born without horns. Otherwise fairly average looking. Generally dresses like a typical farm boy, since that's more or less how he sees himself.

 

1) Hard to give a solid answer on this one, I see their relationship being kind of a slow burn. I see them more or less riffing off one another, getting slowly more comfortable, until you have a moment where one of them (probably Ash) is completely exhausted and frustrated, and the other gives them a quick cheer-up kiss without really thinking about it.

 

2) Well, it's a qunari and a dwarf. Expect some laughs from the peanut gallery. For the most part, though, everyone saw it coming and has already gotten used to the idea by the time they actually get together.

 

3) Hmm. Ash is such a pragmatist I'm not sure what he'd want from a "favorite" perspective. Actually, I think more than anything else he'd just want a day off - I could see Varric and Josephine sneakily rearranging his schedule without telling him.

 

4) Neither, they don't feel the need to hide or announce it, they just go on as feels natural to them both.

 

5) ... But of course everyone already knows.

 

6) Covered on the first answer.

 

7) Not much differently than usual, they're both too focused on the fight to get lovey-dovey in the middle of battle. Ash acts protective of Varric when he gets hurt, but then Ash is ridiculously protective of all his companions, so not much change.

 

8) Ash wouldn't, Varric would because he enjoys charming people. I think Ash would be a bit jealous/insecure about it at first, but he'd realize he was being ridiculous and try to come to terms. And Varric would probably pick up on that and dial it back a bit.

 

9) Ash. Probably as they're going about normal business, he drops it into conversation without really thinking about it. He might not even notice he said it. Which might freak Varric out at first.

 

10) Ash tends to go for the little moments over the grand gestures. I doubt he'd do anything more overtly romantic than quick bouts of PDA, quick kisses, appreciative murmurs when Varric needs them.

 

11) You know Varric would absolutely pull out the stops at least once, if only because it makes for a great story. I want to say sonnets and fine wine, but it would probably be bigger than that.

 

12) See, Ash hates apologies when they aren't sincere. I could see Varric trying to apologize just to end the fight, and Ash getting angry and forcing them both to have a serious discussion about what happened.

 

13) Ash injured: calm, obedient, used to this crap. I could see Varric putting out a line of chatter to keep Ash calm, not wanting to admit he's doing it more for himself.

 

14) Varric uses his injury as an excuse to kick his feet up and make people wait on him hand and foot. Ash is amused/exasperated, doesn't realize this actually is keeping him a lot calmer.

 

15) Just sitting. Talking quietly, away from everyone else, leaning against each other and chatting about nothing as a distraction, which eventually becomes talking about what happened as they both process.

 

16) Varric pops the question, Ash goes along but doesn't much see the point, since he already knew they were both spending their lives together.

 

17) The quiet life, no question. What exactly that looks like I don't know. Possibly setting up a small manor in some town and using that as a place for Varric to indulge his social side.

 

18) I normally have Varric call Ash Quiz, but now that I think about it I'm not sure that would make sense for them long-term. I could see Varric calling Ash Stormy, or something like that, given he's a big grey guy with a knack for lightning magic.

Short only in stature, she carries herself tall because she knows people on the surface don't pay attention unless you hold yourself up like them. She's honestly not the most confident person but it's best never to tell anyone that. She has long, dark-brown hair and gray eyes that are large for a dwarf, kids made fun of her for it growing up. She's naturally pale but likes the sunlight so much she clearly has tanlines. 

To Varric Tethras! 18 questions total!

1) Who makes the first move and how?

Aria tells Varric her feelings by accident. She's so relaxed with him she almost doesn't realize when she's told him how much he means to her.

2) What's the others reactions? 
Varric, being the good man he is laughs it off and pretends she didn't mean it. Aria, being too proud to tell a lie, then stops him and confirms that she wasn't joking. Varric is at first a little shocked but then smiles. "Good," he says.

3) Varric wants to give your quizzy their favorite meal or a thoughtful gift... What is it and how would he give it to them?
Aria once mentioned that she has a sweet tooth but she doesn't say what her favorite dessert is. Varric spends the better part of a day wandering a market trying to find what Aria might like. Chocolate eclairs are too rich, he thinks, and peanut brittle is too crunchy. Finally, he settles on a freshly baked cinnamon bun and presents Aria with it- only to find out she's allergic to cinnamon. She takes him to get honey buns instead, her treat.

4) Does Varric and your quizzy make their relationship obvious right away or is it hush-hush at first?

Aria loves listening to other's love lives but she's bashful about her own so she and Varric are subtle, but they don't make the greatest effort to hide anything. 

5) If it's on the down low; do they end up telling the group or do they find out on their own? 

Sera is the first to notice along with Josephine, who giggle whenever they see the couple. Once the Iron Bull finds out, there's nothing left to hide. He even tries to give Varric a couple of tips, and when Aria overhears, she rushes out of the room, scarlet. 

6) If the "first move" didn't involve a kiss; how did their first kiss go?

Varric isn't one to kiss-and-tell, but I am. To pick up where I left off: Varric is at first a little shocked but then smiles. "Good," he says. Aria, a pretty shade of pink, starts to feel very silly. Why should she get butterflies? This isn't her first brush with love. She looks so cute fretting, Varric thinks. Aria, so lost in her thoughts doesn't see Varric's hand coming as he pulls her face toward his.

7) How do they behave together on and off the battlefield? 
Aria is in the zone and focuses on the task at hand, so she treats Varric no different than anyone else and Varric wouldn't have it any other way. He certainly doesn't need to be babied. This facade is shattered though when Varric might be seriously injured or knocked out.

8) Would your quizzy flirt with someone else? Would Varric? How would they react? 

Aria isn't one to flirt lightly, so probably not.

9) Who's the first to say "I love you"? When/Where/How do they do it?

Aria, knowing Bianca was a very important person to Varric, didn't know if her feelings were entirely one sided and thus kept them to herself. After a very tense Inquisition meeting where Cullen had really ripped into Aria's decision in battle, Varric peruses her in the hall after telling Cullen to shut the f*ck up. Varric tells Aria that she made the right call and that Cullen has a the hilt of his sword up his ass. Aria, very shaken by the battle doesn't look Varric in the eye and thinks she's failed in her duties. She begins to ramble saying that she doesn't know what she's doing and that Cullen should be in charge, not her. Varric passionately argues that she's exactly what the Inquisition needs, what he needs, not some blowhard like Cullen. He tells her he loves her and he won't stand for her to talk like that ever again. He kisses her there and they continue back into her chambers.

 

10) What's the most publicly romantic thing your quizzy initiates? (Whether it's all the time or only once)

She doesn't really know it but she tends to aimlessly play with the hair on his arms when they are sitting beside one another. It tickles Varric but it always makes him smile.

Proclaiming his love for her in the hall outside of the Inquisition's warroom.
 

12) If your quizzy and Varric get into an argument who is the first to usually apologize (even if they were in the right)?

Aria would apologize, but then Varric would feel like an ass and apologize soon after.

 

13) Oh no! Quizzy got injured! Varric is the only one around to take care of them. How does your quizzy react to being a patient? 
"Varric, please, I'm fi-" she cringed. The arrow was deep into her side and she could see the red expanding over her undershirt.

Varric's lips were pressed tightly together as he searches through his pack for a poultice and bandages. Aria had never seen him more serious. 

Aria reached out to touch his arm, but instead knocks into something. She gasped as she saw Bianca clatter to the floor. Varric instantly froze looking at the crossbow. "Varric, I'm sorry-"

Varric tore his eyes away from Bianca. "You've gotten us into a might fine mess here,Lullaby," he found the poultice and bandages. "There's a rockslide seperating us from everyone else and very little in the way of supplies." He ripped her shirt at the waist to get a better look at the injury and then looked at her sternly, "This'll hurt," before Aria could ask what, Varric yanked the arrow from her side, she cried out in pain but quickly bit her tongue. Varric applied a health dose of poultice on the wound and began bandaging it. "I would have been fine in here. You shouldn't have raced after me... gotten yourself in this mess."

Aria grimaced, "You think I would let that happen?"

Varric smirked, "You hero types are the worst." He finished wrapping the wound. "There, can you sit up?" Aria struggled but was able to get to her feet. She took a step forward but grasped at her side, folding over in pain. "Alright, alright," Varric took Aria's arm and pulled it over her shoulder, letting her lean her weight on him. With his free hand he reached for Bianca and secured her to his back. "After all this is settled you'll need to apologize to Bianca properly for pushing her like that. She'll hold a grudge otherwise."

 

14) Oh no! Again! Now Varric is injured and Quizzy has to play doctor; how would they go about it?

"Hawke? Is that you?"

Aria placed her hand over Varric's mouth to hush him. "Do you want us to be found?" she hissed.

Varric turned his head. "You've gotten shorter Hawke-"

Aria sighed, "Why for all the-"

"And prettier," he whispered, his eyes were fluttering shut.

"No!" Aria slapped her hand across Varric's scruffy cheek several times. "You can't sleep. The poison might take you."

"You're takin' me out on the town, Lullaby? Heh, that's sweet."

Aria took his hand in hers.. "You know it's me?"

" 'Course I do, Lullaby..." he smiled.

Aria spends the rest of the night wide awake but exhausted, slapping Varric so he doesn't drift off to sleep. Once they are found int he morning by their companions and Vivienne applied magic to help him heal, Aria falls asleep, leaving Dorian and the Iron Bull to carry them home.

 

15) Something emotionally scarring happened; how would Quizzy and Varric comfort each other? 

Honey buns would be involved for sure... as for what else... I honestly don't know unless you're more specific...

16) Is there a proposal in the future? Who pops the question and how?
"Listen, Lullaby," began Varric, "I've got something important to ask you."

Aria looked up from her map scrolls, instantly at attention and not noticing her hair is a complete mess. "Yes?"

Varric was taken aback by how endearing she looked. "It's- it's Bianca."

Aria smirked. "What's she got to say? Is she complaining I was too loud again?"

Varric scratched behind his head, "No, she's impressed actually. She's been able to sleep as of late."

"Good, I'm glad," laughed Aria about to return to the scrolls.

Varric swallowed. "She's given her blessing."

Aria stopped. "... her... blessing?"

Varric took Aria's hand. "Yeah. If you'll have me, that is... as your-" Aria kissed Varric before he was done speaking. And he was fine with that.
 

17) Let's say the world was saved and you are no longer bound to the Inquisition; what's you quizzy and Varric planning to do?

Varric and Aria are planning a wedding and want to start a family. Pretty boring stuff, but Varric is sure he can spice up the story a bit.

18) And last, but not least: No repeats (e.g. Daisy, Blondie, Rivain, etc.)
What nickname does Varric give your Inquisitor?

He calls her Lullaby, because she likes to hum to herself. Aria even hums when they are beside each other in bed, it tends to be the last thing Varric hears in at night and the first thing he hears in the morning before he opens his eyes.

Kidding, in all seriousness I wasn't expecting them to. I wanted them to tell us but I had a feeling they wouldn't. Oh, well...here's to hoping they give us info at Gamescon. *drags self over to romance thread to sulk.*
