I know, it seems weird to me that he's a reaver -- especially since he hates demons so much yet Reavers are taught by demons so... I think it's a retconn. xD; I really see no other way for it to make sense for his character.

I'm thinking Cass = templar and Blackwall = Champion, since Cass is a seeker and probably more inclined to be a templar than he would be.

Our warden didn't have to make any deals with literal demons to become a reaver, just a metaphorical one.

Presumably Kolgrim or one of his disciples or predecessors learned from the demons, but it doesn't require the individual reaver to deal with them.

For the moment, Saarabas (pictured to my left) seems like a knight enchanter, since she's got that Avenline/Cassandra-were-they-mages thing going on, but rift mage is a possibility, because green thing in her hand.  Hadn't decided on Lady Cadash, though.  If she's former carta, maybe assassin?

I won't know until I see some stats, though.  Artificer sounds fun, but I'm rarely good at crafting.  I don't like having to wander all over Thedas to find my crafting components.

I'm thinking possibly rift mage for my saarabas. I think it sounds interesting and fits in nicely with the Inquisitors ties to the fade like you said. I'm also thinking I might try tempest for my rogue.

Blackwall makes more sense as a Champion than a Templar. His personality is Champion incarnate. Him being a templar would just be a bit of backstory that doesn't add much to him.

I'm thinking Blackwall's a champion, but it's a very fine line, like a coin toss.  We don't know his character arch yet, maybe it does involve being in service to the chantry.

Consider that the dwarf from Golems of Amgarak was also a Reaver.

I never looked.  The one was a ranger.  I was disappointed summons aren't racially-specific, and Snug is just a special case.

Also a bit bummed magic in Inquisition isn't racially-specific.  Specializations are one thing, but base abilities would be logically different from different upbringings.  A human mage is taught differently from a keeper-in-training from a saarabas or a vashoth.

I think I heard that rogues and warriors have different reasons to be where they are.  If that's the case, I might actually play warrior.  I don't know as what, though...champion, probably.

I'm leaning towards rift mage too, but its been a toss up between necromancer and rift mage and at the moment rift mage is suiting my head cannon better..... it will probably change again by the time I've got the game.

Saarabas is supposed to be fairness and good, but I imagine she's home-trained.  Rift mage and knight enchanter seem like her. Can't imagine she abides by necromancy.

Reavers get their powers from dragon's blood. That's been the case since DA:O, since you unlock the Reaver spec by siding with the Cult of Andraste.

Edit: Whoops, Fiend beat me to it.

Remember how everyone was making sims dragon age characters? Well we can do it for free now, supposedly - Sims 2 +all expansions

"Origin users for free for a limited time. To get it, simply open Origin, select the "Redeem Product Code" option from the menu, and enter the code I-LOVE-THE-SIMS. You have until July 31 at 10AM Pacific to redeem the code to your Origin account"

I'm gonna download it when I get home and make some DA characters... I'm shameless, I know

Thanks for the heads up!  I love the sims games, and free is just the right price.

I... have to disagree about Blackwall, about it being a fine line. The guy's a Grey Warden, who quit because he wanted to help people and stop focusing on a blight that wasn't happening any time soon, which pretty much screams Champion to me. We've seen no reason to think he's tied to the chantry, and given that Cassandra, Leliana, and Cullen are all working directly for the chantry it'd be pretty odd if they decided to put Blackwall in the same organization. Plus Alistair made it pretty clear that Templars don't usually end up the Grey Wardens.

I just did it! What is going on at EA headquarters? Giving both DAI and BF Hardline extra time, handing out free games and promoting their games as inclusive. It's almost as if they're getting tired of being seen as the worst of  the AAA companies!

Sorry guys, I'm still playing catch up, anyway

I'm glad it isn't just me thinking this, has EA grown a heart, a conscience or are they just using their common sense. Whatever it is, its way weird and it's freaking me out ever so slightly, as this isn't the EA that I knew and I sort of like this new semi-sensible side of it...let's pray it lasts.

Hmmm, it seems to me it's just as likely for Cassandra to be the champion since she's the Hero of Orlais.  Seekers aren't templars as far as I know, but maybe?

Uh huh.

There was one year, a while back, in which EA was insistent that they have changed.

It lasted exactly one year, and they went right back into old habits. Excuse me if im skeptical that they are going to change this time.

All this talk of specializations has me really excited and saddened about the game. I want to know more about the specializations, like moves and stuff, to prep, but I'm also kinda sad because I like playing healers sometimes and that isn't really an option anymore :(

Cass is an bit of a strange one for me, I thought she suited the Templar spec but now think champion suits her better, I might be wrong.

Blackwall, I see fitting perfectly as a champion.

Maybe it's a ploy to steal market shares from Ubisoft by making people see how bad they are with all their insane DRM stuff, pre-order mania and refusal to include female avatars. But that's the cynic in me talking. I really do hope the change is genuine.

You make a good point there, but Seekers do work closely with the templars, to the point that Varric asks Cassandra if she left the chantry with the order, and she doesn't bother to correct him. And she's tied to the chantry closely, which means we've already got a pro-chantry companion. I don't want to say it's impossible that Blackwall is another templar, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Same here, though I suppose that both rift mage and especially necromancer could have healing elements to them. We don't know enough about them.

I'm sceptical about it lasting as well. It's a nice change though, even if it doesn't last.

Anything is possible.  It could be that the whole theory of every companion representing the different specializations for the inquisitor are completely wrong.

From the wiki:

"Seekers are typically chosen from the elite ranks of the templars and used to train at isolated fortresses such as Therinfal Redoubt in Ferelden. In their roles as overseers of the Templar Order and the right hand of the Divine, they serve as the Chantry's investigators and are given considerable latitude to function outside the law. The leadership hierarchy of the Seekers runs parallel to that of the templars, although a senior Seeker outranks any templar."

It could be the Creation field just got a boost. Almost everyone I've talked to about mages in Dragon Age says they play Spirit Healers as a matter of course, and there were complaints that Anders was the team healer in DA2. Could be the design team wanted to make that more open to players, so people didn't feel forced to play a Spirit Healer/keep the Spirit Healer in the party at all times.
