I have to say, I'm partial to anything involving Varric.

Varric was the single most interesting character in DA2 He was loyal no matter how you played so I always brought him along while romancing anyone who was romancable and exploring the sibling relationship which was one of my absolute favorite aspects of DA2. Bethany brings out the protector in me but I also noticed Varric on subsequent playthrus always protecting everyone, Anders, Bethany, Merril, he was like a mama hen taking the weaker ones the smaller ones, those vulnerable characters and protecting them.  This went beyond his Han Solo vibe and let me realize that Varric Tethras was a good and noble scoundrel.  He was a protector.  His nicknames for Merrill and Bethany cinched it for me on my 4th Hawke and I decided he was my absolute favorite character and it was so sad that such a protector of the innocent was not a LI. I am a huge sucker for protectors. It was what made me fall in love with Jack all over again in ME3 and why I liked Kaidan so much in ME1 though in the end no romance beats Garrus.

In the Solas thread I've heard them guess "sleepy" or "baldy", both of which I approve. Don't know about the others, but I'm very curious as to what he'll come up with. I loved being called "chuckles" in Mark of the Assassin haha.

I crush on Sera, so I would be all for Varric and her getting along wonderfully. Especially since they will both be on my team a great amount, most likely. xD I could see a mischievous kinda partnership between them. They both enjoy a good laugh.

Really? Of all things, Varric being romancable is outrageous? I mean, I would describe the "God-baby is the Inquisitor" theory floating around as outrageous. Varric is...at best a maybe and at worst an unlikely to me. But that's just me, I have to keep in mind people were all like "There's no WAY we'll get to pick races" not that long ago.

Is bitter Cassandra/Varric confirmed?  The fact that they supposedly left Kirkwall together led me to believe they had at least a truce after DAII.

 

Of course, this might turn out to be entertaining, listening to the angry banter those two could dish out.

I mean...while Aveline doesn't romance Hawke--she was married to someone who she loved very much who died, and she moved on and got married! Isabela loved someone and she ran from that love and learned to love Hawke! Why can't Varric love Quizzy?

Ah yes, I romanced Isabela a few times myself. I can never resist a charming, quick witted lady-rogue, or in her case pirate, it seems. But they really did have the best banter. I'll take the hilarious stuff over the serious stuff any day lol.

I believe so, we have a chart going around based on actual sources that says they will have a kind of "bitter" relationship going on. I think it will be something like "I can stand you, I respect you, but I don't like you". Maybe it will get better as time goes on.
