I just looked at this image for about 2 minutes, thinking that it was really pretty and wondering why I suddenly felt like I had something I had to do, before I finally remembered that I'm the fanart OP and this should go on the front page. I've clearly been a bit overloaded with data and information today.
He had great banter. xD I loved Zev/Alistair banter, Wynne/Zev/Alistair... or anything with Shale, omg. Sten/Morrigan was amusing as well, for a few choice banters haha.
Really? I adore Zevran. My canon LI is Alistair but Zevran...oh man he was the only character in that game who I just instantly nailed the approval rating of.
With the other characters I kept tip toeing around them all "oh what would they want me to say" but the instant I spoke to Zevran I just picked what dialogue I was actually the most likely to say. Of all the characters in Origins I feel like he could have easily been a good friend of mine. Him and I have near identical senses of humor.

My playthrough was similar, except with Alistair! 
Were so alike it's scary, my friends tell me he's the boy version of me! lol....Probably why I ended up so attached to him and why he remains one of my favorite characters of all time, the other being Varric of course!
So, how do you guys see a romance with Varric playing out? You think he'll be more difficult to romance than the other LI's?
I'm sure we'll end up having to help him get over Bianca (the real one) Cuz looking at how much emphasis the devs have put on her, it'd be kinda weird if they didn't.
Which means we'll likely end up with a more angsty romance with Varric, complete with lots of baggage. Which is unfortunate because one of the reasons I loved Varric so much in DA2 is because he didn't have alot of baggage.
I didn't feel attracted to Alistair at all. Only Zev. And Morrigan, but I am straight and so is she. *shrugs*

It means, "We haven't told the fans what role Varric is playing in Inquisition yet. We'll tell you when the information is scheduled to come out."
I have a feeling his LI reveal (or lack thereof) will also reveal his place in the story to some extent. It could even be spoiler-y. I'd like to think that if he wasn't available, they wouldn't toy with us.

Either they haven't written his character arc yet (very very unlikely)... Or I've got nothing, it's a very confusing statement. We know you haven't told us anything about his character arc, that's why we're asking about it.

As for the message from Laidlaw regarding Varric...I think it just means that they're not ready to talk about him in detail yet. We're all pretty hyped for the game but we do have to remind ourselves that it won't be out for about three more months. I think they just want to keep spoilers to a minimum.

I'd like to think logically if Varric wasn't available, they surely would have told us by now. Today was the perfect chance to tell us to zip it, like they did for the folks asking for a Cole romance. They wouldn't just torture us and make us wait to be disappointed?
..right? Oh who am I kidding, this is BioWare.

Yes, Alistiar is very sweet. I found his awkwardness to be relateable. I always fumble around people I'm attracted to.
As for how it will play out...I'm not sure. I imagine Bianca would be a part of it but I'd also hope for it to be a fun romance. I kind of imagine him becoming slightly less suave as he starts to actually fall for the Inquisitor. Like he starts off super sure of himself and dashing but as it progresses he opens up and becomes a bit more vulnerable and less sure.
I mean, seriously though, they were quick to inform that Cole isn't an LI, what's the wait on Varric (if he isn't an LI, I mean)?

Right now I think that Varric is either not a romance option/some types of inquisitor can't romance him/there are romance-like elements but he isn't a traditional romance. For the third bit of that, I am slightly suspecting, unfortunately, that Varric may end up dying invariably or something.

If he isn't a romance option, it's hard to imagine they won't use Bianca as an excuse, given how much they've talked about that, including in "answering" questions about whether he's a romance.
I'm of a much different mindset. I think that he is a LI, but in order to reveal that, it seems like they'll have to release more of his role in the plot. It sounds like it isn't something they are quite ready to do yet, but I'm almost convinced that he'll be a LI. Plus, if you'd like, I can dig up some quotes that can help back up my point.
Also, and please don't take offense, but where in the name of Odin did you get the impression that they were going to kill Varric based off of that small blurb of almost nothing?

I hope not. I really hope not. I can understand other reasons for a lack of a romance with him (see my open letter to BioWare on page 3,) but I really hope it's not Bianca.

Speculation on a Cole romance is flame bait and a recipe for disaster (see that 1 thread that someone started on it), they nipped it in the bud

I'm curious, why do you suspect that Varric may be killed off in Inquisition? I can see there being a way for him to die in the game, that's not uncommon in Bioware games but inevitable companion deaths are pretty rare. The only one that comes to mind is Legion.
Anyway this is the Varric discussion thread so if you have a theory on it I'd love to hear it, no matter how sad.

Definetely, he's always been quick with a smile & ready with a quip, it'd be cute to see him at a loss for words once!....now I'm imagining a stuttering, blushy Varric.

I'll be blunt. I'd be pretty pissed off if that was the case. Thane I completely understood, given he clearly states he has an incurable terminal disease that some of the best minds in the galaxy can't remedy.
Plus, I think the only companion in the DA games confirmed to be dead and gone regardless of player choice is Wynne after Asunder.

Noo, no, no, I'll be heartbroken if he isn't romanceable but if he got killed i'd be devastated! I blubbered like a baby when Mordin passed....but if Varric died I- my heart take that kind of hurt! ...Great, now I'm tearing up...

Wynne, she was alright and I actually thought of her as a grandmother for some reason, but it would be understandable if she passed due to time.
