EDIT: Nvrmind, ninja'd.
Okay, the doubt has passed! I'm totally fiine. Don't worry Kath, I'm pretty convinced we'll still have Varric as an LI. I was just talking about a theory I had the other day that both remaining LI's would be Solas/Bi and Varric/Straight. So this just further solidifies that theory.
please explain so my heart can stop beating so fast
Did Brian Bloom have a twitter? Maybe we could write to him? xd

EDIT: IRONY. Got ninja'd myself by Chestbeard herself...
This is the only thread that makes me go from this

to this

in a space of a few seconds
But good for the Solas thread, his VA is awesome.
Remember the list guys!!! It's not over till it's over!!
1. Varric is hugely popular among Dragon Age fans, which makes him a hard character for the writers to ignore
2. Is it just us or has he somehow managed to get handsomer since Dragon Age 2? The redesign of Varric fits that handsome look BioWare love for their romances.
3. There's a chance that the last two characters may be race-gated, and Varric has some reasons for being gated himself.
4. Take a look at our last screenshot, Varric and Vivienne together. Coincidence? Or a hint that they are two last LI's? ![]()
5. "Like a well oiled leather jacket."
6. DG's classic Hobbit tweet: "Finally saw the Hobbit. May have to rethink my status on dwarf romances."
7. All the other "Not no way not no how" LI's have had their statuses confirmed as a "NO!": Leliana, Morrigan and of course Cole.
8. "It was tempting..."~David Gaider on Varric's status as romance in DA2
9. How about that "extra scene" that was almost slipped in post interrogation between Varric and Hawke? "I told them everything" "Everything?" "Don't worry, I skipped the part about us."
10. "If we'd known how popular he'd be, maybe we'd have gone a different way."-Another gem for David Gaider
11. People have been requesting a dwarven love interest since the release of Origins.
12. There was of course David Gaider's April Fools day joke where he claimed to be leaking "Varric Inquistion romance scenes". It would rather low to make this kind of joke if there wasn't a hint of truth to it.
13. If it really is a no, the kinder thing to do would have been to let down his fans early. Bioware knows there are a fair amount of people who have wanted him as an LI since DA2. It just doesn't seem like their MO to drag a "No" out this long.
14. Cameron Lee has been stressing that Varric loves Bianca too much to let her go. But the more and more he states this, the more and more it starts to sound like a red herring. We know we can switch Varric's weapons in Inquisition, with the exception of Bianca. Maybe, just maybe, he's talking about the crossbow instead of the woman.
15. In regards to Bianca the woman, having a long lost or deceased love hasn't prevented a character from becoming an LI in previous Bioware titles. Carth, Zevran, Kaidan and Thane are all LI's who have lost a woman who they dearly loved but found happiness in a new lover.
16. Just because a character was not originally intended to be a romance doesn't mean the developers can't change their minds. Regarding Morrigan, one of the most iconic Dragon Age LI's:
"Trying to figure out what the romance is...sometimes it requires you to sit back and think about the character a slightly different way because you've always thought about them [one way]....Morrigan initially was not supposed to be a romance. I had to change the way I thought about her...[I saw her] as having built up this sort of armor around herself-that there was a different person underneath. One that she purposely had to squelch because she thought that [it] was weak, because that was what she had been taught. Suddenly when I thought about that, it was, 'Oh that's an interesting place to go.'
17. Allen seemed make an...interesting slip....regarding an earlier interview with romances this year. He stated romances would be varied with different personalities. The interviewer asked if Varric would be an LI. At this point Allen looked as though he'd realized he'd said something he should not have and stated that Gaider would be upset if he spoiled things.
18. Out of our romanceable companions so far we have two warriors (Iron Bull and Cassandra) , one mage (Dorain), and one rogue (Sera). There's a decent chance that for balancing sake the final two LI's are a mage and rogue respectively. Since Cole has been confirmed as unromanceable that leaves Varric to fill the final rogue slot.
19. At the GaymerX "Building Better Romances" panel, a dev said that there were "3 straight optons, a couple bi options and a couple of gay options." Perhaps Vivi is the bi options and Varric is the straight option.
20. According to a banter between Hawke and Varric in Legacy, Varric went on a date at some point in Dragon Age 2, with lady Dusana Helmi. Now this was a bad date, and Helmi did tried to kill Varric, but it does show that Varric is at least willing to go out with women besides Bianca.
Did Brian Bloom have a twitter? Maybe we could write to him? xd
Brian is surprisingly not an active social networking guy.
HOWEVER, I know a few sites/blogs that have interviewed him, maybe we could get him to do a spoiler-free interview with gamermd83 on Youtube, since she's a Varric fan (though not a Varricmancer)?
Alright, alright.
-breathes-
Varric is still the last rouge. The whole thing Gaider was saying about being "equal" could still apply.
Which thing about being equal? That as long as people have two options its equal thing or another thing I may have missed?
please explain so my heart can stop beating so fast
Gotcha covered: (snipped a few things out to make it shorter)
I'm gonna have to agree with you here, I think Vivi is out at this point and Varric/Solas are in.
Solas/Bi/all races (we've had a Bi elf in every game since DAO)
Varric/straight/racegated
The reason why I say this is because of two things:
1.) David Gaider said all gender/sexualities will have equal representation in DAI but that may not meet an individuals definition of "fair." He also said that they've prioritized two romances for every/race/gender/sexuality combo & that's as far as their obligation takes them.
"In my opinion, "fair" is "I, as a player, am not treated as an afterthought. It is not "I get exactly the same number of choices as everyone else" or "I am being oppressed by not getting choices I personally want."
2.) Vivienne not being an option would leave straight men with the same number of options they've had since DAO. This is relevent because of what David Gaider said at the GaymerX panel:
"But if you are going to look at the total number of romances, like, I had two options in DAO and two options in DA2 and I still have two options in DAI, but there are other people getting options and you’re going to say, wait, why aren’t I getting all the options? Well that’s too f****** bad."
This lines up with what he was saying in the romance thread about equal options and seems to me he's preparing some group for heartbreak.
Let's take a look at this though, lesbians/gays only had one option in DAO and straight males/females had two.
In DA2 however, lesbians/gays/straight males had two and straight females had three options of LI. ( including DLC Sebastian, but for those of you who argue that he doesn't really count, just look at the remaining potential LI's in Inquisition. We have three men vs one woman, the odds of straight women being the ones left out is very unlikely. ) So, the only group that has had two romance options in BOTH games was straight males, therefore Gaider had to be talking about them. And so my conclusion is that Vivi won't be Bi like I previously thought...or likely available at all. Because I think she fits into that category of "ain't got time for your business" the Devs talked about.
Sorry about wall of text...I've just thought about this alot, so I have much to say about it.

...i still don't get it :/
Which thing about being equal? That as long as people have two options its equal thing or another thing I may have missed?
basically that. we were talking yesterday how they may have Solas and Varric as the last 2 choices because the "straight male gamer" will still have 2 choices.
But man this turned into a hard morning.

People just assume Vivi will be the last option because she's the last female. But as long as everyone has two options at this point, who the rest of the Li's are doesn't really matter to Bioware. As they said, that's as far as their obligation takes them. The last two LI's could very possibly be men.
I don't get what you don't get.lol I'm so confused.
What's the part you don't get so I (or we technically) can try explaining better :3
lol i said yesterday that i just don't see him as attractive... standing next to varric i'm just like... nope lol
I really hope beyond hope that the last two are Varric and Solas ![]()
Recent-ish interviews with Brian Bloom, in case anyone wants to make some magic happen:-

So they asked again and left out the voice acting? Hmmm Cause the first one I saw up there was also asking about voice acting. Alright.
Well hopefully he's not so shiny in game though other than Cullen, Solas was the one I care about the least^^;
As a huge Mordin fan Solas has always intrigued me, since he sounds like a similar character. I figure it'd be a win win for me no matter who was LI, though I still prefer (and hope for) Varric
.

Might be because I have the soul of a jaded old shew but I find it very hard to believe that the straight guy would get the least amount of options, just something I don't see happening. Again though I'm pretty jaded about a lot of things and I find it weird that if they had the option to make things equal with ladies and gents that they wouldn't, that also seems odd to me.

Well, to be fair anyone standing next to Varric will look less attractive in comparison.
Honestly though, Solas isn't really my cup of tea either.
Ah. Got it
Appearance wise I don't either but he sounds so intriguing to me that if he definitely is a romance option I wouldn't be disappointed. :3
Like Mordin and Wrex; not physically appealing to me but I'd try to possibly peruse a relationship knowing who they are via personality
Me too. While I don't think Solas is ugly, he's just not the type I normally go for as a LI. But his personality sounds interesting
Solas is fine in terms of looks and character but he hasn't exactly made me go wow.

Funny thing is Solas does remind me of two guys I'm big fans of Mordin and Lexington but I just can't get into Solas for some reason and I have no idea why (I do know it has nothing to do with him being bald though) I think maybe Solas comes off as too loner for my tastes I'm not sure or I could just be getting sick of elves that's very possible^^;

yeah i'm doubtful too. but it's the only hope i have left. as a side note- Vivienne is beautiful but she has also never peeked my interest as a LI. Josephine, Sera and Cassandra did though
