you know i'd laugh but i would HATE for the Solas people to experience the same hear-wrenching pain we've dealt with for the past few years.

Perhaps race gating isn't as simple as 'ew, dwarf/quanari/human/elf? Don't think so!' and it's more to do with content/conversations that are only available as a certain race due to your life experience? Bonding over something you have in common? Being able to help with something only you playing as that race with that background would be privy to? To be a bigger part of a companions story because of what you know because of who you are?
A surface dwarf, a Noble human, a circle mage, a Dalish elf, a tal vashoth, each of this have lived drastically different lives and their stories before becoming the inquisitor would effect how others feel and bond with you.

That's a good thing. I'd like to romance Solas.

But now... I don't think Varric is an LI. The optimistic list won't help so I'm just depressed.

Vivienne (Who I assume is the last LI) better at least be Bi or I'll be ruined.

Whether gender- or race-gated, I hope the PC can START the relationship before the gated-LI shuts them down.  Kind of like Aveline, instead of psychically knowing which companion is into what.

Im pretty sure an actual quote from DA2 is, "Mages are not people, and shouldn't be treated as such. They are dangerous things."

 

Im pretty sure he mostly will refer to mages as an "it". when talking about them.

XD. In a nutshell, Solas's VA sort-of-maybe confirmed he might be an LI. We were all happy for the Solas fans but did a collective gulp because that means there might be only one slot left.  Gaider also added that he didn't say the last two LIs were both race-gated meaning it's possible at least 1 of the existing romances might be gated. Again another collective gulp because Varric was assumed to be one of the race-gated romances and this comment might affect his chances.

 

But it's cool. There's still hope but we have to remember that it was always a maybe. Lets just keep calm and carry on folks

Pretty much.
I think it's time for me to try to d'état he from Varric being an LI and stick with my anticipation of Vivienne and Solas.

I'm thinking within a heart-dialog or two, very quick.  Sera might think she's just being teased, like Varric and Isabella do, but after she figures out he's serious, she shuts him down.  Gently. 

 

Besides which, we know mostly who's into what by now and will probably have full details by launch.  By that point, it would just be flavor.

She is Orlesian so it's a strong maybe at the very least.
