I just wanna know what exactly the race gates are number wise.
Would it be A is good with all but dwarves while B isn't into humans.
Or something more like A only likes dwarves and B only likes elves.
Or maybe A likes dwarves and elves but B is into humans and qunari.
What if it's A will be with anyone but dwarves while B will only be with a dwarf.

Mmm, Raining on Parades? I responded in admittedly a brusque manner but given the conversation topic i'd be a fool to not expect hostility from an honest opinion. Beyond that? How i respond, What i respond to, and how i feel on things is my personal decision. Choices, Beliefs and all that nice stuff that comes from cognitive sentience and awarensss.
Conversely how others view is their view of it nothing more not to indicate i view opinions other then my own, inferior but to be honest, i understand my own views better then other people's.

We've had plenty of people run around arguing that Varric should not be an LI because of those reasons. I merely wanted to point out that if you or others do not wish to romance him yourself, your free to do so. The game would not force anyone into a romance with Varric (should he be an LI) and you could opt to remain friends with him if you so choose. But to imply that he should not be available to anyone based on that argument is unfair.
What is wrong with others, such as the Varric-mancers, wanting something more than the friend path we've already had in DA2? If you haven't noticed, alot of people in this thread are on edge due to recent revelations and your comment (though it may not seem that way to you) is only going to make things worse. My initial response to you, furthermore, was anything short of hostile. What you said in reply to me was a bit rude though and that's what I took a disliking to. Especially since, (as I said before) people are on edge at the moment. Saying "I don't think he will be" was not necessary and only meant to rile people up.
And if your original comment was not meant to be taken in that way, then perhaps you should think things out more before posting because it certainly came across that way.
Seriously, Vivienne IS gorgeous. I've been smitten for a while. I really want her to be a bi option -fingers crossed-dat beard! and Vivi is a gorgeous lady. Varric trumps them all but wins are a good way to see it
Same here. I want my dwarf so bad, but I also want equal choices. And I love Blackwalls beard.
Maybe I should start looking at it as a win-win-win instead? If Varric, then I will finally have my dwarf. If Vivienne, then yay for equality! And if Blackwall, then my characters can snuggle up against that lovely, lovely beard.
I'm of the mind that Varric/Solas romances could still make the whole team *mostly* equal.
If Cullen/Varric are both race-gated (and Iron Bull was originally race-gated) theres a chance that it was originally those 3 all equaling 1 LI (if they can all only be romanced by certain races) So then it was 3 female romances all open to all races, and 2 open male romances with the other 3 being specific to where each race had the same number of options... w/o Iron Bull being gated now, it would only give straight female/gay male maybe 1 extra romance option, not terribly unequal in the grand scheme of things (in which these two groups are usually the ones that get shafted)

Leliana obviously, Her Bard Tutor, Empress Celene, Grand Duke Gaspard (I was like...that's hot kinda...) King Melghen (If you buy into the rumors he had an affair with his cousin the emperor florian back in the day) If i thought about it hard enough, i am pretty sure i could think up a few more examples, but that's all that come to mind at present.
So yeah, Orlais seems to be the land where, whom you bed doesn't matter much as long as people can only gossip about it behind your back.
Generally speaking, this thread is open to differing opinions - we have other people who don't want to romance Varric.
What we appreciate is respectfulness to each other. When people come in and troll, other people get upset.
Labeling a different opinion, trolling doesn't make it so.

Same here. I'm not actually too upset about Solas's LI chances seeming good, because I find him cool and will probably want to romance him eventually. It's a bittersweet for me because I do want Varric more, but at the same time I like him, too. But what's killing us all is the anticipation. It's making things crazy and very frustrating. If it was all out in the open right now, things would go crazy for probably a day or so, then we'd all calm down because the speculation would be gone and we'd have what we have.

Dude... that's messed up. I don't think they would do something that horrible. What happened with Jacob was bad enough, that would instantly take its place as the shittiest way to write a romance in any Bioware game.

But. Sometimes you need to be aware that you may need to word it in a way that won't sound aggressive, gloating or rude. For example: I think that Varric is one fine piece of man. I could just say that, or I could say something like: Varric is the hottest guy out there, all dem other characters look butt ugly in comparison because they don't have his glorious chesthair.
Now, if I were to go into another character thread and wanted to express my opinion on Varric's looks; how do you think people would react if I posted the first or the second option?

You know, that would be quite the concept to introduce into DA, i mean it brings some...realism of relationships into it.
Sometimes, a relationship is formed to endure difficulties and stress, and sometimes it must end because of prior commitments, not what some people want to hear i am sure but to me, its an intriguing notion more then anything else.
Sort of like the relationship between Misses Madrazo and Trevor in GTA 5.

Glad you think there is nothing with voicing an opinion, good we can agree on that.
But to be honest? Me being bombarded by people, telling me that my indifference was hurtful only made me slightly annoyed to be honest, I go out of my way to explain and it doesn't even help. I honestly don't care if he is a LI or not, i can view several reasons why it would be a bad thing, and several why it possibly could be a good thing, but ultimately i don't care much, He isn't much of an appeal to me, as a LI, The Character however has appeal.
And for clarification, I wasn't gloating, Rude or Aggressive, it was indifference, plain old indifference.
In conclusion, i really don't think there was much grief caused; A Gifs got spammed, but other then that every one seems fine.
