That's why I didn't even bother lurking in there.   Oh dwarves are fine and good if they're your best bud, but for not if you're the player.   And, to some (though not in the romance thread tonight, thank goodness,) if you want a dwarven romance, you're weird and occasionally accused of "trying to ruin Varric just to bone him."

I know. It hurts my feelings because I'm short (4'11) and they make short people seem freakish T.T

I can really tell I've been on this forum a lot lately, because I had a dream last night that Varric was announced as an LI. I guess I know what I went to bed thinking about. >.>

I'm sorry, I hope you didn't take offense to my post... I did say I was more comfortable (or I suppose, more easily immersed) playing characters closer to my height, but I'm 5'7''. :c I have nothing against shorter/taller people or characters, though. It will be really different to play a tall Qunari for me, but I can't pass up a squeaky newly available race, haha.

I think it's really cool to play as a dwarf because

1) They aren't human

2) You see a lot of people dismiss them on account on being short and stocky. This is not uncommon in actual society either, people judging others based on their height and body build. So, to me, it's neat to play as a short and stocky person who saves the world.

Yeah, I like their build, actually. Elves were always a bit frail looking to me. When I would watch cutscenes in DA2, I would notice that Varric isn't even that much shorter than a standard human/elf, but a lot more sturdy looking. And as we can see from the comics, built very nicely. >w>

No worries, I didn't take offense really. But people dismissing dwarves JUST because they're short and people used "fat and ugly" as other words is ridiculous IMO

It seems to me that dwarves, or male dwarves anyway, come in three flavors.

 

Craggy and weathered, like Bartrand.

 

Rugged manliness, Like Varric.

 

Or Santa, like Bodahn.

Fat? I would think the better term for dwarves is muscular. Not fat.
