Here's the thing about the mystery: We already know we're going to buy the game.  They have our attention already, they don't need it any more.  Those on the fence, those who haven't played DA before, don't know what having a love interest means, they don't know why they should pick Varric over Cullen.  So drawing it out like this is doing nothing to attract more fans and is just aggravating the confirmed buyers.

 

On the other hand, there's little they could do short making an entire game that's just Anders lecturing the PC on the plight of mages that would make hardly any of us turn away from the series.

In hindsight this may of not been the best plan. But it was still pretty damn funny.

It is weird, but then again there's John Epler's twitter. I think if we keep our distance for a little while it should cool down fairly quickly. Sometimes attempts at weird humor come off incorrectly, and this was one of those cases. 

 

It's a careful balance we have to maintain with the Bioware devs, and sometimes we forget, what with them sharing all their in jokes with us, that they don't always understand our in jokes. 

 

Had I known what was going on, I'd have probably advised against posting that to twitter.
